There was plenty of talent at the position all over the state. Here are the top junior point guards from this past season.
Olivia Miles Olivia Miles 5'11" | PG Blair Academy | 2021 State #2 Nation NJ | Blair
Miles was the top-ranked player in the Class of 2021. She is a true point guard and triple-threat. Miles can score, rebound, and pass. She averaged 17 points per game as a junior and knocked down 51 three’s. Miles is one of the biggest prospects in New Jersey and that will continue next season.
Zanai Jones Zanai Jones 5'5" | PG Hudson Catholic | 2021 State NJ | Hudson Catholic
Jones averaged 18.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game for Hudson Catholic. To say she was a dynamic player would be an under statement. She had four double-doubles this season and one triple-double when she put 22 points on Kearny to go with 11 rebounds and 10 steals. Jones also had a 40-point game in a blowout win over Dickinson. Jones is a Division I player right now and still has one more year to go.
Janel Moore Janel Moore 5'5" | PG Paramus Catholic | 2021 State NJ | Gill St. Bernard’s
Fajardo is a scorer. She finished in double-figures in 23 games this season including a season-high 28 points in the season-opener against Hillsborough. This is no surprise when watching her game. She knocked down 39 three’s this season and was an elite foul shooter.
Nia Melvin Nia Melvin 5'9" | PG Stuart Day | 2021 State NJ | Stuart Day
Melvin was the clear-cut leader and floor general on Stuart Day. The junior averaged 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. She also dished out over five assists per game. Melvin had the ability to go off on any night. For example, she finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and eight steals in a win over Northfield Mount Hermon (MD). Four games later, Melvin posted 26 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, six made three’s, and five steals against Moorestown Friends
Ella Fajardo Ella Fajardo 5'4" | PG Gill St. Bernard's | 2021 State NJ | Red Bank Catholic
Sabino was a big part of a loaded Red Bank Catholic team this season. She will be back for another season along with sophomores Ally Carman Ally Carman 6'5" | C Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ and Justine Pissott Justine Pissott 6'3" | SG Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ . Sabino was a player who could score from anywhere. She is a strong shooter who can handle the ball and get to the rim. Most importantly, she was a defensive anchor.
Abigail Antognoli Abigail Antognoli 5'6" | PG St. Rose | 2021 State NJ | St. Rose
Antognoli is just another member of the Class of 2021 we could see playing high level college basketball. She scored 10.5 points per game for St. Rose while showing an ability to rebound consistently. Antognoli grabbed just over two steals per game. At 5’7, she can see the floor well and knows how to run an offense. Antognoli is the kind of player you want running your offense because of her high IQ on the floor.
