Reile Payne, Fargo Shanley
Payne is perhaps the best player in Class A this year and led Fargo Shanley to the state title game. The senior forward was a stat-sheet stuffer all year, averaging 20.4 points, 11 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Her ability to control the game puts her in rare air.
Jes Mertens, Devils Lake
The catalyst in the Firebirds attack, Mertens is one of the best two-way players in the state. She averaged 12.7 points and 4.0 assists plus 5.5 steals per game. Her ability to control the game on both ends of the floor, get to the paint and make her teammates better helped the Firebirds reach the state championship game.
McKenna Becher, West Fargo
Becher was the leader for a West Fargo team that exceeded expectations this season, averaging 16 points and 3.8 assists while being one of the most efficient players in the EDC.
Ryleigh Wacha, Fargo Davies
Wacha was a stat-sheet stuffer for the Eagles, helping lead the team to the state semifinal round while averaging 14.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists. She picked up her play even more in the EDC Tournament, averaging 17 and 12 to lead the Eagles to the state tournament.
Taylor Fey, Fargo Davies
Fey led the Eagles in scoring, averaging 15.2 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field. She also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game and had her share of dominant performances. She’s a terrific wing scorer who can put up huge games and formed one half of one of the best duos in the EDC.
Second Team
Jadyn Feist, West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs were one of the surprise teams in the EDC and Feist was the catalyst in that effort, averaging 13.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. One of the most efficient players in the state, Feist converted on more than 56 percent of her field goal attempts.
Moriku Hakim, Fargo Shanley
Hakim was a breakout star in the EDC, averaging 13.0 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Deacons, playing a key role on the interior and helping Shanley reach the state title game. Her ability to finish in traffic and produce consistently was a big reason why the Deacons were among the best four teams in the state all season.
Hadley Huber, Fargo Shanley
Huber is one of the best all-around players in the league and after missing a few games early in the year, she was terrific, averaging 10.7 points and a league-leading 5.8 assists. She shot 39 percent from the 3-point line and was one of the elite defenders on the ball.
Jailyn Martinson, Devils Lake
Martinson had a breakout year for the Firebirds, averaging 13.0 points and 5.3 rebounds. She was one of the most efficient players in the league and looks like a potential Player-of-the-Year competitor next season.
Shelby Frank, Grand Forks Red River
Frank was a consistent reliable piece inside for the Roughriders, averaging 11.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She was an anchor on the defensive end of the floor and one of best finishers around the rim.
Third Team
Jordyn Kahler, Wahpeton
Kahler was one of the top scorers in the EDC, averaging 19.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The Huskies had a down year but she was undoubtedly a bright spot.
Alex Page, Grand Forks Red River
Page shot 46 percent from the 3-point line last season, averaging 10 points per game while averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. She was a key cog in what was one of the best defensive teams in the state.
Abby Johnson, Devils Lake
Johnson emerged a rock-solid player for the Firebirds, averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while knocking down 41 percent of her 3-pointers.
Adie Wagner, Fargo South
Wagner was one of the league’s top scorers, averaging 20 points per game. She added 4.9 rebounds per game and improved as a shooter and took steps in her efficiency. She’s got a shot to be one of the best players in the EDC next season.
Brynn Giesen, West Fargo
Giesen had a solid year, averaging 8.4 points and 3.8 assists while knocking down 42 percent of her 3-pointers. She’s one of the best defenders in the EDC and will be a key cog in the Packers being one of the top teams in Class A next year.
Honorable Mention
Ramsey Brown, Devils Lake
Brown averaged 11 points and 4.1 rebounds, serving as a top-notch wing and helping the Firebirds reach the state championship game.
Ava Wild, Fargo Davies
Wild was the anchor for an Eagles team that leaned heavily on its frontcourt and she was productive, averaging 9.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.
Haley Gereau, Grand Forks Central
Gereau led the Knights in scoring in rebounding, averaging 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She was one of the most efficient players in the league as well.
Jadyn Dieterle, Valley City
Dieterle averaged 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Hi-Liners, leading them to a solid year in the EDC.
Chloe Pfau, West Fargo
Pfau took a step forward as a freshman, averaging 9.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Packers. She’s a player to watch going forward as she’s one of the top prospects in the state.
