Continue ReadingOnly time will tell if the State Final 4 ends up being played on the court in Columbus, but after an entire regular season and a bulk of the OHSAA state playoffs – we at PGH Ohio are ready to announce our All-Ohio teams. These teams will be constructed by graduating class and based on production and accolades this season, more than any other factors.
Let’s take a look at the PGH All-Ohio teams for the Class of 2022.
Player of the Year:
K.K. Bransford – 5’10 Guard – Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame
K.K. – pictured above (photo credit: Cincinnati.com) – is considered by many to be the best guard in the United States in the Class of 2022. She had a tremendous year, leading her nationally ranked MND team to a 28-0 record. Bransford, the Player of the Year in the Greater Catholic League, averaged 19.4 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.6 APG and 2.2 SPG on her way to 1st Team All-Ohio honors in D1 from the OPSWA. She was also a 1st Team selection in the Southwest District.
1st Team:
Cotie McMahon Cotie McMahon 5'11" | SG Centerville | 2022 #28 Nation OH – 5’10 Guard – Centerville
McMahon had an outstanding year, playing a difficult schedule in the Greater Western Ohio Conference. The athletic off-guard, who is also an outstanding defender – averaged 18.9 points, 8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 steals, while shooting 53% from the floor and 38% from 3-point land. She earned 1st Team All-Ohio and 1st Team Southwest District recognition from the OPSWA and also was named to the 1st Team for the GWOC.

Gray was the leading scorer in the Greater Miami Conference, where she was named Player of the Year. Chance is a 5-tool lead guard who averaged 20.4 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 3.4 APG and 1.8 SPG, while shooting nearly 35% from 3 and 77% from the FT line. Gray was a 1st Team All-Ohio and 1st Team Southwest District selection in D1 from the OPSWA. She is a tremendous passer who constantly creates scoring opportunities for her teammates.
Grace VanSlooten – 6’2 Forward – Toledo Notre Dame
Grace is the ultimate mismatch on the offensive end of the floor. She had another great year at Toledo Notre Dame, averaging nearly 16 points per contest. She was named the Player of the Year in the Northwest District and also earned 1st Team All-Ohio honors in D1 from the OPSWA. VanSlooten has deep range from 3 and also rebounds it at a very high level – working around the rim against smaller defenders.
Faith Stinson Faith Stinson 6'1" | C Sheridan | 2022 State OH – 6’1 Forward – Sheridan
Stinson’s size and athleticism has made her a legitimate D1 prospect at the next level. She averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds on the season. A 1st Team All-Ohio selection in D2 by the OPSWA, Faith also was named to the 1st Team for the Southeast District. Faith is great around the basket, finishing post moves with both hands. She also has the talent to step out and knock down the 3-ball.
Allison Basye Allison Basye 5'11" | CG Huntington Ross | 2022 State OH – Chillicothe Huntington
Allison Basye Allison Basye 5'11" | CG Huntington Ross | 2022 State OH already has a handful of big-time scholarship offers and rightfully so. She scores at one of the highest rates in the state of Ohio – averaging 23 points per game during her sophomore campaign. Basye, who scores at all 3 levels and also has the athleticism to defend on the ball and create turnovers, was named a 3rd Team All-Ohioan in D3 by the OPSWA. She earned 1st Team honors from the Southeast District.
2nd Team:
Lanae Riley Lanae Riley 5'11" | C Akron Hoban | 2022 State OH – 6’0 Forward – Akron Hoban
Although she missed a number of games due to the OHSAA transfer rules – Riley, who made the trip across town from Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s to Akron Hoban – averaged 23 PPG on the season for a dominant Hoban squad. She is a double-double machine who not only scores on the block and in transition, but also showed a greatly-improved jumper. Lanae was named Honorable Mention All-Ohio and 2nd Team Northeast Inland District by the OPSWA.
Brooklyn Thrash Brooklyn Thrash 6'0" | CG Elmwood | 2022 State OH – 6’0 Wing – Bloomdale Elmwood
Thrash took home a number of awards at the conclusion of her sophomore year. She was a 1st Team selection in the Northern Buckeye Conference and also earned a 1st Team nod from the District 7 Coaches. Brooklyn was a Special Mention All-Ohio pick in D3 after earning 2nd Team Northwest District honors from the OPSWA. She averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the season – while adding a number of steals each night.
Catara DeJarnette – 5’6 Guard – Kenston
The athletic guard stuffed the stat sheet for Kenston. Catara averaged 16.4 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 3.8 APG, 2.5 SPG and 0.4 BPG on 36% from 3 and 73% from the FT line. She is great off of the dribble attacking the paint and also can shoot it at a high level with her feet set. DeJarnette was a Special Mention All-Ohio selection from the OPSWA IN D2 and earned 2nd Team Northeast Lakes District honors, as well.

Bri is great at controlling the game and managing tempo for her club. She averaged 18.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.6 steals per contest, while shooting 45% from the floor. Claxon was a 3rd Team All-Ohio selection from the OPSWA in D4 and also earned 1st Team Southeast District recognition.
Marissa Ventura – 5’5 Guard – Cortland Maplewood
Ventura was all over the floor this year for Maplewood – making big-time contributions on both ends of the floor. She averaged 21.8 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.4 APG and 6.2 SPG. For her efforts, Ventura was named 3rd Team All-Ohioan in D4 by the OPSWA. Marissa also earned 1st Team Northeast-Inland District honors.
3rd Team:
Hannah Archer – 5’7 Guard – Fort Frye
Archer is one of the state’s premier sharp-shooters – when her feet are set and she has an open look, it’s rare to see her miss. She is also more than capable of initiating the offense as the lead guard. Hannah averaged nearly 16 points and helped lead her Fort Frye squad to the state final 4. For her efforts, Hannah was a Special Mention All-Ohio selection in D4 and also earned 1st Team recognition from the Eastern Distict.
Jenna Smith Jenna Smith 6'0" | C Garretsville Garfield | 2022 State OH – 6’0 Post – Garrettsville Garfield

(Photo Credit – Record Courier)The big and strong post averaged 15.3 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 1.8 APG and 1.3 SPG. She shot 52% from the floor and 72% from the FT line. Jenna helped lead her James A. Garfield team to the district finals. She earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio and 2nd Team Northeast-Inland District honors from the OPSWA. She was also a 1st Team selection in the Portage Trail Conference.
Abbie Smith – 6’0 Post – Vincent Warren
The 3rd Team All-State selection in D2 is one of the more skilled posts in the state of Ohio. She has a tremendous face-up game from the mid-range. She is also capable of taking one dribble and finishing at the rim. When she catches it on the block – she uses her size to score over smaller defenders and is also an outstanding offensive rebounder. Smith averaged 12.8 PPG for Warren.
Mackenzie Hurd Mackenzie Hurd 5'10" | CG Nelsonville York | 2022 State OH – 5’10 Guard – Nelsonville York
The long guard averaged 14 points per contest. She uses her size to shoot over smaller defenders and also does a good job of creating separation to score off of a drive. Mackenzie was a Special Mention All-Ohio selection from the OPSWA in D3. She was a 1st Team selection from the Southeast District.
Imarianah Russell Imarianah Russell 5'11" | SF Reynoldsburg | 2022 State #75 Nation OH – 5’9 Guard – Dublin Coffman
Undoubtedly one of the top players from Ohio’s Class of 2022. Russell is a tremendous 2-way player with special athleticism. She is a long defender who effectively turns defense into offense. An Honorable Mention All-Ohio selection from the OPSWA in D1, Russell averaged 12 PPG and also earned a 1st Team Central District nod.
