The program was established by Steve Hood and John Witherspoon and has had a positive impact in the county, and the DMV girls basketball community in general. Most programs do not last 10 years without excellent leadership and vision, so kudos to them. Coach Jeff Watkins joined the program in 2013 and is one of the good guys in the game. I have followed his teams over the years and his current 2022 group is probably his best yet. There is a lot of potential in this group so I wanted to give his core some attention. These four are all coming off solid high school seasons.

Angela Nnabue Angela Nnabue 5'6" | CG Sherwood | 2022 State MD , 2022, Sherwood
Angela was the Comeback Kid this season and was a pleasant surprise coming off a knee injury that kept her on the sidelines for most of last summer. This 5’7” point guard made a huge impact this season with her ability to score in a multitude of ways and get after opposing guards on the defensive end. A captivating floor general that leads by example, Angela is back to full health and ready to raise her game to another level this travel season.
