The point guard crop in 2023 is very strong, and while there is a variety of shooters, scorers, and distributors among them, Division-I coaches have already taken notice of most of these girls in our Top-10, with at least five of them already having received scholarship offers. The group as a whole has solid depth, but it is undoubtedly top-heavy, with the top six of them falling in the top 13 overall in the class, regardless of position. Below is a look at the top ten point guard prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2023, with additional comments to follow.

With little surprise, Ashlynn Shade Ashlynn Shade 5'10" | SG La Lumiere Prep | 2023 State #33 Nation IN of Noblesville has maintained the top spot in our March rankings for the Class of 2023. After entering high school with a great deal of promise and college attention, she only backed that up with consistent, and at times stellar play, plus she looked like she “fit in” from Day #1 of the season. The person likely to challenge her the most over the next three years is Amiyah Reynolds Amiyah Reynolds 6'0" | PG South Bend Washington | 2023 State #35 Nation IN of South Bend Washington. Amiyah is actually more of a versatile wing, a point forward type if you will, but she can play multiple positions both offensively and defensively. She is incredibly long, smooth, and good with the ball. She has a solid handle, but she might be an even better passer. She had an outstanding rookie season, but her game should develop even faster as she adds strength to her slender frame.
Ashlynn Brooke Ashlynn Brooke 5'7" | PG Pioneer | 2023 State IN of Pioneer drew a great deal of attention this Winter, returning in January from a July ACL tear, and then helping to lead her team to a Class 1A State Runner-Up finish. She shot/scored the ball a ton last Spring & Summer, but I was most impressed this Winter with her court-vision and ability to find teammates on-time/on-target through the smallest of passing windows. As she regains her health, she’ll be that much better. I also really started to enjoy the game of Sanaa Thomas Sanaa Thomas 5'5" | PG Warren Central | 2023 State IN of Warren Central. She might be one of the best passers in this class that no one talks about. She has a great floor presence, plays with her head on a swivel, and has some speed/quickness. She can knock down an open jumper as well, and she stepped in and started for the Warriors this season against an incredibly tough schedule.
Two players who I think could be justified as “typical” Indiana ballplayers, are Sydney Horton Sydney Horton 5'7" | CG Roncalli | 2023 State IN of Roncalli and Abby Fleetwood Abby Fleetwood 5'9" | PG Indian Creek | 2023 State IN of Brown County. They are both tough-nosed, gritty, high-motor kids. They can make shots from the perimeter, handle the ball and run offense, plus they really get after it at the defensive end of the floor and bring a lot of energy to the team. While there are only ten girls listed above, there are many more you’ll be hearing about in the coming seasons, as the Class of 2023 is deep with talent.
