Louis metro area, some very familiar names and some that we be names you will know in the near future more and more. Exciting players all of them and need to know ballers. Mia Nicastro (St. Charles West) and Shelby Bommarito (Lindbergh) are among those we spotlight.
Mia Nicastro, 6-1, SG, 2022, St. Charles West @mianicastro
One of the more impressive young player and shooting guards and is 6’1” wing player Mia Nicastro of St. Charles West. Mia posted season averages of16.1 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.7 spg. Nicastro’s best game came with a 40 point, 9 rebound game against Francis Howell North (2/11/20). She will suit it up this summer with the blue star STL 16u silvey. We like her top skills being that of shooting off the pass, attacking the basket, and rebounding. Her offseason goals are to improve her 3 pt percentage, get quicker and stronger, and have a successful summer with her AAU team.
Kate Hillyer, G, 5-9, 2021, Eureka
Its not very often you come across a player like Eureka’s Kate Hillyer, a player with poise and control is nearly every aspect of her game and a player that can make her team better when she touches the ball. Hillyer was considered the elite free throw shooter, or among those no doubt, with a 87.9% rate on 116-132 from the line for 2019-20. Touched 30 points three times with a season-high 32 vs. Parkway West, electric scorer for Eureka and one of those must see players.
Brynn Jefferies, 2021, Lafayette
Lafayette Lancers junior Brynn Jefferies was their go to scorer on the 2019-20 season and we think could be a player that really unloads for her senior season, had a very nice season this year and proved a lot of things that she was capable of doing. Had back to back outings of 25 points and 24 points vs. St. Charles and Parkway West to end December and begin the new year.
Samya Johnson, 2021, McCluer North @JohnsonSamya
One of the more impressive juniors on the 2019-20 season was McCluer North’s Samya Johnson, a player that was capable of making things happen. Johnson scored double figures in all-but four games and had a season-best 26 vs. Parkway South along with a season high 8 boards, (also posted 6 boards in multi games). Averaged around the 20 ppg clip as one of the most impressive scoring threats in STL metro.
Shelby Bommarito, 5-8, F, 2021, Lindbergh
The Lindbergh Flyers had one of the more impressive rebounders in the area in the 5-8 rebound machine Bommario. Shelby was all over the glass and a player that a lot of teams sure could have used on the boards. We like her ability to get into the right position to control the board and make plays while the ball is in the air. Pulled down 10 boards in four games on the year, those coming vs. NW Cedar Hill, MICDS, Pattonville, & Parkway South.Had five double figure scoring outings with her season-high of 16 in their opener vs. Windsor.
