These players lift their teams with their tremendous ability to shoot the basketball whether it’s off the catch or creating their own shot. The Great 8 at the Denver Coliseum on Friday will be a huge test for each player competing for the state championship, and each game will be tougher than the last.
Let’s take a look at some top shooters that are still alive in the Great 8.
[player_tooltip player_id="95017" first="Hannah" last="Simental"] Hannah Simental Hannah Simental 5'8" | PG Pueblo West | 2020 State CO (2020, Pueblo West) is one of the top players in Colorado, leading Pueblo West in scoring. She is averaging 16.9 points per game and shooting 48 percent (139 for 288) from the field.
Simental is an elite scorer who can put the ball in the basket at will. One of the ways that can she beat you is from behind the arc, where she is 49 for 116 (42 percent), which puts her among the best shooters in the state. Leading Pueblo West into one of its best seasons with a record of 24-1, 10-0 in league, Simental and the Cyclones have only lost to Valor Christian, another great team.

The Erie sophomore has been rising in the ranks due to her ability to shoot the ball among the best, as well as play lock-down defense. Leading the way for Erie and averaging 14.9 points per game on 133-for-327 shooting from the field, she can stretch the floor with her ability to knock down shots from behind the arc, where she shoots 37 percent (65 for 178). After setting a season high in 3-pointers made against Windsor with eight long balls, Moyers will look to create a spark with her shooting against Berthoud tonight
[player_tooltip player_id="116779" first="Alyssa" last="Wells"] Alyssa Wells Alyssa Wells 5'9" | SG Holy Family | 2021 State CO (Holy Family, 2021) is a lefty that can shoot off the catch or off the dribble.Leading Holy Family in points per game, averaging 12.6 on 105-for-271 shooting (39 Percent) from the field, Wells is scored a season high in points against Erie with 26 points. In that game, she was 4 out of 9 (44 percent) from behind the arc. Wells will do the little things, putting her team in the best position to win, and averages 3.5 steals per game while shooting 33 percent (52 for 157) on the season. She will look to add great value to her team as the Tigers face Pueblo West, a team that has one of the best players in Colorado.

Wilson is a 3-D player with the ability to stretch the floor and stop opposing players on the defensive end. Wilson is averaging 19.5 points per game on 145-for-378 (38 percent) shooting from the field. She is a player that will do it all for her team and also averages 3.5 rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. With her relentless effort on both ends of the floor, and ability to knock down 3’s, Wilson will look to lead Sierra past Green Mountain.

She can score among the best players in Colorado and is a top-notch playmaker when she’s on the floor.
On a team that loves to play an inside-out style of game with some dominant post players, Pohs will have a lot of opportunities to look for her shot. She shooting 39 percent (47 for 121) from behind the arc. After scoring a season high against Cheyenne Mountain with 24 points in the second round, Pohs will look to lead her team past Canon City and into the Final Four.
