Lewis and McGrew fall into the combo category, again McGrew falls into many but here are some of the other top combo guards I’ve seen LATELY who already have D1 potential
Saniya Burks Saniya Burks 5'7" | CG State TX (Texas U)
Burks does so many things well that I just quit taking notes because she gets to the basket with ease, she creates her jumper, mid to long-range, she understands how to use a pick but her BB-IQ and on-ball defense, as well as her energy level, tells me a lot about what’s coming and trust me, it’s over the top
Amiyah Cotton Amiyah Cotton 5'8" | CG Dobie | 2024 State TX (Reps Up)
When I first saw her in action at a middle school tournament, she sold me as far as being a next-level player. That status was elevated at the Elite 80 as she went completely off scoring every way imaginable but her explosiveness is second to none and
Mariah Houston Mariah Houston 5'7" | CG Tom Glenn | 2024 State TX (Cy Fair Premier)
Houston made a Tip Sheet the first time I saw her and I love patting myself on the back yet she deserves an even bigger one because she can score in droves from long to mid, off the dribble, offensive rebounding and she does it with power. She plays under control and her upside is scary
Kemah Shaw Kemah Shaw 5'8" | CG Austin | 2024 State TX (AD Elite)
Shaw impressed me instantaneously when I first saw her, yes she made a Tip Sheet and her progression and mindset will take her a long way. She understands how to take over a game, she wants the pressure shot and she delivers, all of this before her first HS game but that energy level stays the same, you can’t teach that
Taler Thornton Taler Thornton 5'9" | CG Bryan | 2024 State TX (Houston Skyrise)
Thornton was playing up three years ago, you guessed it, she made a Tip Sheet and my tip back then was “tremendous upside” so fast forward to now, I was right as she slices and dices effortlessly to the basket mixing it up with a pull-up jumper not to mention she rebounds well
