Addison O’Grady commits to the University of Iowa
The spread of COVID-19 has eliminated many recruits’ ability to go on official visits to schools and do a lot of other things that become increasingly important following their junior seasons in high school.
But luckily for Addison O’Grady Addison O’Grady 6'3" | PF Grandview | 2021 State #45 Nation CO , the Grandview standout and nationally-ranked prospect already had a pretty good idea where she wanted to go before everything was canceled. So she thought the time was right to go ahead and make a decision.
On Tuesday, O’Grady announced via Twitter that she had committed to continue her athletic and academic career at the University of Iowa.
“I pretty much had it narrowed down since Christmas break,” O’Grady said. “But after watching them play for the whole season, I just fell in love with their style of play and I thought I’d be a great fit. They really try and push the ball and they were recognized nationally for how many assists they have per game. Everybody is always looking for everybody and that’s how I like to play.”

O’Grady said her top four schools were Colorado, Washington, Utah and, of course, Iowa. Considering that uncertainty abounds all over the world these days, she added that it is a relief to have that decision made and have one fewer thing to worry about.

I’d been on unofficial visits to my top four so I knew enough about them to think that Iowa was the right decision.”
As a junior at Grandview this past winter, O’Grady averaged 10.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. The 6-foot-3 forward and the Wolves were set to play in the Class 5A state championship game for the second straight year before the season was cancelled just before the title game was going to be played.
O’Grady plays club for Colorado Premier Basketball Club.
