Who are the best players in the Bismarck area?
For the sake of this exercise, the Bismarck area includes the Bismarck schools, Mandan, Flasher, Underwood and New Salem/Almont.
Here’s a look at the top forwards in the area:
1.Logan Nissley, Bismarck Century
Nissley’s the best prospect in the 2023 class and wasted little time becoming a high impact player at the varsity level, averaging better than 12 points and seven rebounds while shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line and better than 50 percent from inside the arc. She was a defensive presence at multiple spots and an adept playmaker. She’s an incredibly advanced player for her age and will be the next great Bismarck Century player.
2.Grace Kelly, Shiloh Christian
Kelly took her game to another level as a sophomore, averaging better than 14 points and six rebounds while leading Shiloh Christian to the state tournament. At 5-foot-11, Kelly is a matchup problem for a lot of people because her length and size allows her to dominate smaller players, while her athleticism and skill give her an advantage against bigger defenders. She’s got all-state potential heading into her upperclass years.
3.Ashton Kinnebrew, Bismarck Century
Kinnebrew was a highly productive piece for the Patriots last year, averaging nearly 12 points while shooting better than 50 percent from the field including 44 percent from the 3-point line (on limited attempts but still impressive). She is a multipositional defender who led the team in steals and her activity level allows her to be highly productive without a great deal of volume.
4.Jaiden Baker, Bismarck Legacy
Baker was a solid No. 3 scorer for the Sabers as a junior, averaging about 11 points and more than six rebounds per game while providing high-level defense. She can improve with her efficiency, but she brings a lot to the table in a lot of areas and as a senior, she’ll have to pick up her production for a Sabers team that has been one of the elite teams in the state in recent years.
5.Jacie Hall, Shiloh Christian
Hall is one of the best pure centers in Class B and has been the anchor for the Skyhawks each of the last two seasons. At 6-foot-3, she’s terrific defensively not only because of her height and length, but also her mobility. She’s a strong finisher inside and her activity level on the glass provides the Skyhawks with a lot of scoring opportunities.
6.Tymber Boldt, Flasher
Boldt has been a productive piece for a strong Flasher team each of the last two years, averaging double figures in scoring while rebounding at a high rate. With the Alt sisters graduating, she’ll ascend to either option No. 1 or No. 2 for the Bulldogs as a senior and she’s a good bet to provide double-double production.
