With the rankings update, it is a great time to look at a few of the top players at each position in the state. In the rankings, positioning is broken down into six different positions: Point Guard, Combo Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward, Power Forward and Center. The preview below focuses on the top three players at each position.
Point Guards:
1) 5’6 PG Ashlyn Wallace Ashlyn Wallace 5'6" | PG Clarkston | 2021 State WA (Clarkston HS) – Rock steady point guard that has established herself as the state’s top lead guard. The Idaho commit is destroying the Clarkston High School record books, she is a proven winner in high school and club ball and she is a great teammate/leader. *Feature image
2) 5’5 PG Esmeralda Morales Esmeralda Morales 5'5" | PG Bethel | 2021 State WA (Bethel HS) – A very good ball handler and scorer at the point guard position, to go along with her basketball IQ. Morales has helped Bethel become a regular competitor in the 3A state tournament. She will be headed to Portland State for her college ball.
3) 5’7 PG Andie Zylak Andie Zylak 5'7" | PG Lewis and Clark | 2021 State WA (Lewis and Clark HS) – A big time stock riser in the class. Zylak has gained the interest of some Division 1 schools due to her stellar play. She is good off the bounce and a capable scorer or passer from the point guard position.
Combo Guards:
1) 5’5 CG Julianna Walker Julianna Walker 5'5" | PG Annie Wright | 2021 State WA (Annie Wright) – One of the best shooters in the entire state. Walker can shoot it from deep and excels in shooting the three in transition and off the bounce in general. She can play the one or the two, but she has made her mark as a scorer, leading the state in scoring with 35+ points per game at the 1A level.
2) 5’6 CG Devynn Warns Devynn Warns 5'6" | CG Liberty | 2021 State WA (Liberty HS) – Tough, strong and competitive! Warns had an MVP year in the 2A/3A KingCo scoring the 18-20 on a regular basis. Warns can play either guard position and she is strong with the ball in her hands, excelling at attacking down hill or shooting the three ball.
3) Chloe Williams Chloe Williams 5'9" | CG Central Valley | 2021 State WA (Central Valley HS) – A player that really made her presence known as the season went along for Central Valley. Williams has a thin frame, but her basketball IQ and shooting ability makes her a standout. Williams can handle it or play as a slasher/shooter off the ball.
Shooting Guards:
1) 5’11 SG Talia von Oelhoffen Talia von Oelhoffen 5'11" | SG Chiawana | 2021 State #22 Nation WA (Chiawana HS) – One of the most skilled scorers in the country with her ability to post up, shoot it from deep or take her man off the bounce. The 5-star prospect is considering UConn, Oklahoma, Oregon State, UCLA and Stanford.
2) 6’1 SG Haley Huard Haley Huard 6'1" | SG Valor Christian | 2021 State CO (Eastlake HS) – A very good catch and shoot three point shooter in space. Huard has great length and allows her to cause a good amount of errant passes and deflections. She has several Division 1 schools that have been on her for some time.
3) 5’8 SG Delaney Pink Delaney Pink 5'8" | SG Chiawana | 2021 State WA (Chiawana HS) – Another good catch and shoot three point shooter. Pink had a strong Spring and Summer last year and attracted the attention of multiple mid-major D1’s. She is a quick defender and fits into the team concept on offense.
Small Forwards:
1) 5’11 SF Tamia Stricklin Tamia Stricklin 5'11" | SF Seattle Prep | 2021 State WA (Seattle Prep) – A skilled lefty that really put herself on the Division 1 radar last Spring and Summer. She is capable of scoring from all three levels and at her best when she is being aggressive to find the ball and score.
2) 5’10 SF MJ Bruno MJ Bruno 5'10" | SF Central Valley | 2021 State WA (Central Valley HS) – The 4A state champion was a vital part of her team’s success in every facet. The Portland commit is quite possibly the best defensive wing in the state for her class and she is ferocious on the boards with a wiry frame.
3) 5’11 SF Jaydia Martin Jaydia Martin 6'0" | SF Hudson's Bay | 2021 State WA (Hudson’s Bay HS) – A strong and athletic wing-forward that may have the most natural talent out of the small forwards listed. She is a good rebounder and cleans up teammates’ misses. Martin is comfortable playing out of the high post, short corner or wing. A legitimate 20-10 threat at the high school level.
Power Forwards:
1) 6’2 PF Trista Hull Trista Hull 6'2" | PF La Salle | 2021 State WA (La Salle HS) – A really nice mixture of strength, length and skill for a 6’2 junior. Hull is a regular All-State performer and has a state championship ring to her name. A clear Division 1 prospect!

Hughes is a multiple time 1st team All-State player and has led Woodinville to two 4A runner-up finishes. Hughes holds multiple Division 1 offers.
3) 6’0 PF Fatoumata Jaiteh Fatoumata Jaiteh 6'0" | PF Meadowdale | 2021 State WA (Meadowdale HS) – A long and athletic forward that does a good majority of her work around the paint, but she has the long-term potential to develop into more of a three. Jaiteh is a good shot blocker and finishes around the basket with skill.
Centers:
1) 6’2 C Faith Bergstrom Faith Bergstrom 6'3" | C Camas | 2021 State WA (Camas HS) – A throwback center with some mobility to go with her back to the basket game. Bergstrom has great length to alter shots and corral rebounds outside of her initial zone. Bergstrom holds a handful of mid-major Division 1 offers and is projecting to be an impact player at that level, as she is getting better each year.
2) 6’2 C Katie Thiers Katie Thiers 6'2" | C Roosevelt | 2021 State WA (Roosevelt HS) – Thiers is a true post with solid height at 6’2 and a strong frame to match. She provides rim and paint protection with her physicality and she has above average footwork around the basket, with room for growth. A definite Division 1 prospect that could fit in really well at some mid-major D1 programs.
3) 6’2 C Katie Peneueta Katie Peneueta 6'2" | C Heritage | 2021 State WA (Heritage HS) – Another center that possesses great strength in the paint. She can hold her positioning well in the post and she’s capable of finish through contact. Peneueta is also on the radar of multiple Division 1 schools.
