And that Vance high school girls team was supposed to compete for their first ever 4A state title before the NCHSA had to cancel all sporting events due to COVID.
Here are the other players you should make yourself familiar with:
Caroline Swartz: (5’6 2021) Caroline is a feisty point guard for Hough high school. She is tough on both ends of the floor. She wants to play defense. She drives hard to the basket, finds her open teammates, and is a capable 3 point shooter. She is the second leading scorer in this junior class behind Timmons. She plays AAU for the Carolina Waves organization.
Leah Barringer: (5’9 2021) Leah is part of the Vance high school basketball team. She is a part of the reason why as a #7 seed the team was able to upset their way to the championship team. She is a long guard/small forward who leads them in scoring and rebounds well. She harasses you on defense. She is going to be a player at the next level.
Tanajah Hayes: (5’6 2021) Tanajah is another reason why Vance high school made such a good push in the playoffs. She is a true point guard. Not afraid to attack her defender, and setup her teammates. She leads this junior class in steals per game at 3.4. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
Amhyia Moreland: (6’1 2021) Amhyia is a force to be reckoned with inside for Vance high school. She uses her size and build to bully in the post. She does not mind contact, she can make the extra pass to her teammates when she gets swarmed. Once she gets with a strength and conditioning coach at the next level she will be even more of a force down low. With one more year of high school left she really has time to get even better. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
Kennedy Simpson: (6’1 2021) Kennedy is probably the most improved player coming out of Mallard Creek high school. She has gained an amount of confidence that puts her on this list. She is a long and athletic forward. She can knock down the mid-range, and is working on her 3 point shot. She needs to rebound better for her size, but with another year at high school that should come. Once she gets some weight on her with a strength coach at the next level, she will be a very nice player. She plays AAU for the Lady Team Charlotte organization.
