Rather than being a product of players lowering their stock, most of the movement resulted from players competing their way up the list as well as the addition of 16 new players to the rankings.
Here are five sophomores who have raised their stock as much or more than anyone else over the course of their second regular seasons in high school.
[player_tooltip player_id="117679" first="Marya" last="Hudgins"] Marya Hudgins Marya Hudgins 6'0" | SF Grandview | 2022 State CO , 6-0, SF, Grandview
The small-school state champion transferred to Grandview from Holy Innocents’ in Georgia and immediately carved out a major role with one of the state’s elite programs. The six-foot athletic small forward with perimeter game is a tough cover because of her versatility and ability to put the ball on the floor and attack.
Hudgins is also a solid defender and can guard multiple positions, adding yet another dynamic to an already-dominant Wolves group. As a sophomore, she averaged 10.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, two assists and 1.4 steals per game.
With the latest rankings update, Hudgins moved up nine spots to No. 8.
[player_tooltip player_id="95182" first="Avery" last="Bang"] Avery Bang Avery Bang 6'1" | PF Chaparral | 2022 State CO , 6-1, PF, Chaparral
Bang’s playing time increased significantly this winter and with those added minutes came huge strides forward in her production. The lengthy forward with great footwork averaged 12.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. Bang has a great feel for the game when she is on the floor and is already on track to be a Division-I talent. If she continues to flash the ability to shoot from behind the 3-point arc, watch out.
Bang moved up five spots to No. 11.
[player_tooltip player_id="117710" first="Grace" last="Moyers"] Grace Moyers Grace Moyers 5'8" | CG Erie | 2022 CO , 5-7, CG, Erie
The Erie girls basketball team had several known commodities when the season began but Moyers wasn’t necessarily one of them. Well, she is now. The sophomore put together an incredible winter, leading the Tigers in scoring with 14.7 points per game and pacing her team on a run to the Great 8 in the Class 4A state tournament. Moyers also averaged 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals a night and might have increased her recruiting stock more than any Colorado player in 2019-20.
Moyers moved up 36 spots to No. 12.
[player_tooltip player_id="117697" first="Jessica" last="Bollwahn"] Jessica Bollwahn Jessica Bollwahn 5'11" | SF Columbine | 2022 State CO , 5-11, SF, Columbine
Certainly one of the most dynamic players in her class, Bollwahn can do a bit of everything at 5-foot-11 and is able to impact the game with multiple different skills. Named all-conference in the Jeffco League, Bollwahn averaged 15.1 points, eight rebounds and two steals, and should be a force for the Rebels as a junior next winter.
Bollwahn moved up 21 spots to No. 14.
[player_tooltip player_id="117684" first="Sam" last="Crispe"] Sam Crispe Sam Crispe 6'1" | PF Arapahoe | 2022 State CO , 6-1, PF, Arapahoe
The sledding is tough in the Centennial League but Crispe looks ready to be Arapahoe’s lead dog for years to come. The sophomore led her team in points and rebounds with 12.2 and 8.1, respectively, and anchored the Warriors’ defense to the tune of 2.5 blocks per game. Already a force in the paint, Crispe also shot 30 percent (10 for 33) from long range this past winter. It will be fun to watch Crispe as she continues to add new elements to her already strong game.
Crispe moved up six spots to No. 16.
