Players that can combine the former with the latter tend to stand out on all levels of the game. Today we’ll pick a few players from the season that do both well enough to play at the next level.

Denton Guyer | 2020

The Texas-Corpus Christ commit flies in the open court. Thompson manned Guyer’s daunting half-court trap, leading them to a playoff berth. The explosive guard closes passing lanes and corrals ball handlers.
Donavia Hall
Hall is a big guard with an intriguing combination of handle and quickness. She powers through defenders off the dribble and has an array of moves to finish plays. A tough off ball defender with the potential to be a versatile 1-3 before she graduates in 2022.
Anzhane’ Hutton
The Howard women’s basketball commit looks the part of a college frontcourt member. At 6 foot, with a great first jump and open court speed, Hutton was a mismatch all season. A hulking rebounder with an intimidating physical build.
Ada Anamekwe
Anamekwe seemed to get better as the season progressed. Her athleticism makes her play as a versatile defender and strong finisher hard to handle, especially in transition. The sophomore showed a nose for rebounding in traffic averaging a little over 6 rebounds a game.

Desoto | 2021
State
TX
My introduction to Brown’s game started in September and if you’re not keying in on her during games, it’s because of DeSoto’s ridiculous amount of talent. Gifted with the size to play the point at a high-level Brown also combines pace and passing to cripple defenses. A quick, sturdy guard that can run an offense. On April 16th she committed to the University of Houston.
Kailee Deffebaugh
This sleeper out of Frisco, Texas uses her athleticism to be a great utility defender and finisher. Thanks to length and motor she’s a solid on ball defender against the 1-3 even picks up some blocks on opponents going to the basket. She has separation on her jump shot and almost hangs in the air to adjust her shots around the rim.
