These girls were able to score in many different ways, whether it be from turnovers in transition, attacking the basket at will, or knocking down big shots from behind the arc. Here is the Class of 2021 top 10 scorers from the area:
Sierra Hubbard – Forward/Center – Patrick County
2019-20 Stats: 21.9 points per game, 51.2 fg%, 65.6 ft%
Sierra is a strong post player who can finish consistently down low, powering over players and dominating the boards. She has scored over 300 points during the season.
Zada Porter – Guard – Cave Spring
2019-20 Stats: 21.4 points per game, 49.5 fg%, 78.1 ft%
Zada is a crafty guard who uses her ball-handling skills to create her own shot. She is able to pull up deep from behind the arc or penetrate and finish strong around the rim, scoring close to 400 points on the season.
TyNasia Witcher – Guard – Gretna
2019-20 Stats: 20 points per game, 82.1 ft%, 43.4 3pt%
TyNasia is a 5’8 sharpshooter who can spot up or pull of from well beyond the arc, knocking down big shots consistently. She scored a career-high 45 points, including 9 three-pointers in the District Championship, and put up 37 points, including 7 three-pointers in a regional semifinal game.
Makeyla Mease – Guard – Gretna
20190-20 Stats: 18 points per game, 76.8 ft%
Makeyla is a 5’6 guard with tons of speed, using her quickness to get steals and runs the floor to score easily in transition, where she gets most of her points.
Olivia Harris – Guard – Glenvar
2019-20 Stats: 16.1 points per game, 75.3 ft%
Olivia is a very skilled guard with high basketball IQ, controlling the pace of the game. She uses her athleticism to get to the hole, finish around the rim, and has a mean step back to shoot the three-ball. Olivia has scored over 320 points on the season.
Savannah Derey – Forward – Patrick Henry
2019-20 Stats: 15.1 points per game, 46.7 fg%, 67.4 ft%
Savanna is a 6’0 athletic forward who can score inside and out. She can handle the ball for her size and go coast to coast, finishing with either hand. Savanna has a nice mid-range game, but can occasionally knock down the three-ball, scoring close to 300 points on the season.
Alexis Kiser – Guard – Floyd County
2019-20 Stats: 14.2 points per game, 74.2 ft%, 33.3 3pt%
Alexis is a 5’5 guard who attacks the basket aggressively, being able to get to the lane at will. She also has a sweet stroke, spots up, and shoots consistently from behind the arc, scoring close to 300 points on the season.
Elli Underwood – Guard – East Montgomery
2019-20 Stats: 12.7 points per game, 42.6 fg%
Elli is a 5’7 guard who plays with intensity throughout the game. She has great scoring ability by attacking the basketball and being able to shoot from the outside as well. Elli has scored over 250 points on the season.
Gianna Brown – Guard – Northside
2019-20 Stats: 12.4 points per game, 65 ft%
Gianna is a strong guard who uses a variety of ways to score the ball. She can shoot the three-ball consistently, penetrate to the basket finishing strong, and she is able to post up. Gianna has scored over 220 points on the season.
Ashlynn Mitcham – Guard – Giles
2019-20 Stats: 11.8 points per game, 40.3 fg%
Ashlynn is a quick and explosive guard who scores well in transition. She gets most of her points off of turnovers while running the floor and getting easy transition points. She has scored over 200 points on the season.
