This 2022 class might be one of the toughest we’ve seen when it’s all said and done. Here is a look at our Top 5 Forwards in the 2022 class:
Janiah Barker Janiah Barker 6'2" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #3 Nation FL (6’2 SF)
It’s only fitting that Janiah is our number one forward given that she’s the number one forward in the 2022 national class according to ESPN. Janiah has the best frame of any player I saw last year, and she has one of the best shots that’s nearly impossible to defend. She has represented the USA, won a state championship, and she still has two years of HS ball left. Janiah is an explosive athlete who controls the paint on offense and defense. She can score it from anywhere and has the handles to bring the ball up the court and get around anyone. Her potential is limitless.
Nyla Harris Nyla Harris 6'2" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #34 Nation FL (6’1 PF)
Nyla is another top 15 nationally ranked player in Florida’s 2022 class. On offense, she’s a more traditional forward who is active on the glass and uses her size and body to attack from 15 feet and in. She’s incredibly athletic at her size and has that college-ready frame that’s had Division 1 coaches eyes on her from an early age. Her footwork and touch around the rim are evolving, and she will be able to contribute to any Power 5 front court with a lot of time left to perfect her craft.
Savannah Henderson Savannah Henderson 6'1" | SF Timber Creek | 2022 State #46 Nation FL (6’1 SF)
Savannah might be the most gifted offensive forward in this class. She’s a force on offense with a great combo of size and shooting that gives a defense headaches. She led a talented Timber Creek team to their first state tournament trip, and I think she still has the most room for growth out of these five. I know she will be working hard to continue improving every aspect of her game with her elite ability.
Jordana Codio Jordana Codio 6'1" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State FL (6’0 SF)
Jordana is the closest player on this list that could be considered a guard. With her height, she handles it well and sees the court with a strong jumper that makes her hard to guard. She’s one of the few 2022’s that is already committed with Wisconsin being her destination. She was named the Florida Dairy Farmers POY for 4A as an underclassmen, so you know she can go!
Mya Kone Mya Kone 6'1" | SF Blanche Ely | 2022 State FL (6’1 SF)
Mya is the least known of this group since we didn’t see her play this year, but she was a handful her Freshman season. She averaged a double double with 6.5 blocks per game. Mya is a lanky lefty who can compete with anyone in the state with her size and skill set around the hoop. She already has D1 looks and will continue putting her name on the map when basketball resumes.
