Tosjanae Bonds commits to Metropolitan State University
Over the past year, Tosjanae Bonds Tosjanae Bonds 5'5" | SG Far Northeast | 2020 State CO has made quite a jump in the recruiting process, which has been a roller coaster ride for the 2020 guard from Far Northeast.
Bonds’ high school season ended earlier than she wanted when the Warriors couldn’t get past Valor Christian in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs. The early exit did, however, give the then-unsigned senior more time to think about her future at the next level and what school she might want to play for.
Bonds has officially decided to remain at home in Denver and play for Metropolitan State University.
[player_tooltip player_id="95071" first="Tosjanae" last="Bonds"]“I felt that Metro State is the best fit for me because they could help me on moving forward in my game, and help me with my skills to make me a better player overall,” Bonds said. “I would have so much help and support because I am down the street from my family. I feel really good with the decision that I made to play at Metro State because I don’t have to worry about the recruiting process, it was really stressful at first but I found my home with Metro State.”
Bonds led Far Northeast to a 15-9 record overall and a chance to contend in the playoffs. She averaged 24.9 points per game while shooting 221 for 436 (51 percent) from the field and 118 for 169 (70 percent) from the free-throw line. Bonds, an excellent defender who has a high motor and tries to do whatever she can to help her team win, also averaged 7.7 rebounds and nine steals a night.
On Feb. 8, Bonds had a outstanding outing against Denver East which opened the eyes of a lot of coaches from all around. She managed to put up 40 points, 18 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals. Bonds is PGH Colorado’s No. 17-ranked player in the 2020 graduating class.
