We have already discussed scoring stars like Kelsey Duffey Kelsey Duffey 5'5" | PG Broken Arrow | 2021 State OK , Taleyah Jones Taleyah Jones 5'8" | CG Broken Arrow | 2022 State OK and Jada Hytch, but today we will discuss two 2021 players who should probably be ranked in the next edition of PGH’s Oklahoma rankings. These two were an integral part of the team last season and will definitely see an expanded role in the upcoming one. Both players are great athletes and college coaches should be flocking to Tigers games this upcoming season.
Tea Myers | 5-6 G | Broken Arrow | @_lifeasteaa
The first thing you should know about Tea, college coaches, is that she is one of the few basketball players I have seen that calls herself a “student athlete” on her Twitter. Honestly, you just do not see that often. I see a lot of players that have “ball is life” or something along those lines and no mention of grades anywhere on their page. Myers is a 4.0 student and proud of it. She seems to understand that basketball is the vehicle that will help her to further her education.
All of that being said, Tea can ball. She is an outstanding defender who does all of the little things that a player should. She goes hard on both ends. She is a pain to have guarding you and a pain to guard. Myers has great handles and can blow by almost any defender. She finishes strong at the basket and is completely unafraid of contact. She does not “settle” for the three, but can hit them on a regular basis. She clearly relishes the opportunity to take her defender one-on-one. Tea Myers should be on college coaches’ radars. Next year will be a very big one for her.
Makayla Adams | 5-7 G | Broken Arrow | @makaylaaadams
Adams is a team player. Plain and simple. To be honest, it could be the reason that she has been underrated thus far and college coaches have been sleeping. As I look back at my notes from a Broken Arrow game this past season, there is a star by Adams’ name. I singled her out as a star for the Tigers. I also wrote a note that said that everything runs through her. This is entirely true. She gets assists in loads and prides herself on sharing the ball with teammates.
Sharing the ball does not mean that she is not a scorer, though. Adams is always looking for the mismatch. If a teammate has one, they get the ball. If her defender is mismatched, Makayla can blow by them with very good handles. She can score in bunches. She has good size for a guard, but plays more like a combo-forward. She has a plethora of post moves and is not scared to shoot over the biggest players in the middle. Adams is what college coaches are looking for. She is an unselfish player who does all of the little things and instantly makes everyone around her better.
Next season for the BA Tigers will be a big one. College coaches get ready to head to Broken Arrow. You’re not going to want to miss this team and these players!
