It can be hard to cover every player of a particular age during one or two high school seasons. Maybe some players missed a game when PGH was there. Maybe some players missed a lot of shots when PGH was there. Hey, it happens. Without good video online and a decent social media presence, sometimes it can be hard for a player to get spotted at all; not only by PGH and others, but also by college coaches.
That being said, these players were left off the 2022 rankings. Not on purpose and not due to a lack of skill. They were just somehow overlooked. They will be on the next rankings and most likely somewhere near the top half, if they continue to ball like they have so far.
*Grassroots and high school coaches, always feel free to reach out to PGH via Twitter or email if you feel that a player needs to be added to our rankings.*
Hadley Periman | 6-2 PF | Tuttle | @hadleyperiman21
I tell people all the time that a six-foot player is going to play in college as long as they can hold a basketball. Now, a 6-2 player that can handle the ball, rebound, defend and shoot the three? She’s probably going to play at a very good D-I school. What six-foot player do you know that brings the ball down the court with the handles of a point guard? Periman might as well be called “the unicorn.” She does it all with ease and plays beyond her years. She will rise up the next version of the rankings, for sure.
Journey Armstead | 5-7 CG | Sand Springs | @journeyarmstea1
Armstead is a workout warrior and a true team leader. She is a fiery player with a very quick left-handed stroke. Her quickness gives teams fits and often draws double teams. She is very good at the drive and dish due to the attention that she gets from defenses. When left open, she will make them pay. Her defense is some of the best in class and she is often tasked with guarding the best player on the opposing team. She is yet another player that will be high up in the next update of the rankings if she keeps performing like she has.
Lydia McAlvain | 5-9 SG | Tahlequah | @lydiamcalvain
McAlvain would have definitely been included in the end of season rankings had her highlight reel been up before the end of March. Tahlequah was not watched too often this year by PGH and we needed video to confirm our memories of her. But, excuses aside, she will be in the next rankings. McAlvain is a baller. Another lefty with a smooth stroke, McAlvain hits the three from all over the place. She shows off a very good eurostep and finishes at the basket with ease. She is no slouch on the defensive end either and has very good size for a guard. We look forward to watching her develop even more over the next few years as the college offers will no doubt begin to pour in.
