D’Yanis Jimenez D’Yanis Jimenez 5'9" | PG Charlotte | 2023 State FL – 5’9 – PG
D’Yanis is easily one of the best point guards in this class. As a freshman, she led her team to 19 wins with 18.2 ppg (1st on team), 4 rpg (3rd), 2 apg (1st), and 3.3 spg (2nd). She is a crafty finisher around the rim, and she’s lethal from outside. Her handles and change of pace really put her on another level. She earned All-Area First Team honors and was the impact player of the year at Mariner. D’Yanis is going to be a star!
Chloe Kitts Chloe Kitts 6'2" | SF Faith Christian Academy | 2022 FL – 5’11 – G
Master’s had three players (all Freshmen) average double-digits on a state-runner up team. Chloe was the team leader in points (21), rebounds (10.9), and blocks (1.7). Some were surprised Master’s made it that far, but if you had been paying attention all season then you weren’t shocked. Chloe is already 6 foot and still growing into her body. She is a heady player who has massive potential with her scoring ability with some crafty finishes down low. Watching her lead her team to an incredible Final 4 win over Miami Country Day was one of the most exciting finishes I saw all year. Chloe was second in voting for the Dairy Farmer’s Player of the Year, and she will be winning plenty of awards over her next few seasons.
Khyala Ngodu Khyala Ngodu 6'2" | PF Dillard | 2023 State FL – 6’2 – F
Khyala is the tallest one on this list standing at (at least) 6 foot 2, and she’s easily one of the best bigs in this class. As only a Freshman, Khyala led a 20-win Dillard team in points, rebounds, and blocks. She shoots at a very high clip, crashes the boards (12.2 rpg), adjusts opponent’s shots (1.3 bpg), and moves well for her size. Her ceiling is ridiculously high!
Eleecia Carter Eleecia Carter 5'7" | CG Lake Highland Prep | 2023 State FL – 5’6 – G
Eleecia played on the best team in the state, so she is not an unknown name by any means. She plays tough defense, sees the floor, and puts the ball in the hole on a stacked team. I was impressed with how well she meshed and fit in as a rookie in a balanced scoring attack. Eleecia has a high basketball IQ which really helps her standout on both ends of the floor. She’s a strong shooter, and she’s only going to get better with the gauntlet Lake Highland Prep ran during school ball.
Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5'5" | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL – 5’5 – PG
Oakleaf has two of the best Freshmen in the state, and Kaylah really showed out this season. She averaged over 17 points per game and also had a whopping 5 steals per game. She has elite quickness and is a very active defender with good hands. Kaylah can put up some points, but she’s a strong PG in her ability to see the floor and create with her handles. Some of the accomplishments she garnered suring year one were: FACA District 6-7A player of the year, first-team Clay All-County, and even put up a school-record 42 points in January. Keep an eye on the Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5'5" | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL / Fantasia James Fantasia James 5'10" | SF Oakleaf | 2023 State FL duo of Oakleaf!
Liv Fuller Liv Fuller 5'10" | SF Clearwater | 2023 State FL – 5’10 – G/F
Liv has all the makings and drive to climb her way up this list. She’s already dunking on 9’3″ with her incredible athleticism, and she’s a true high motor player in every sense of the term. She was first in points, blocks, and steals in her Freshman campaign. Liv also crashes the boards (she’s got bunnies) and sees the floor well. It was an adjustment for her to play almost position-less basketball last year as she took on some guard duties, but she should slide back into a role that suits her length and ability to run the court. Clearwater is going to be a team to watch in the near future.
Alonya Waldon Alonya Waldon 5'5" | CG Palm Bay Magnet | 2023 State FL – 5’5 – G
Alonya made a big impact on a State Champion Florida Prep team. Her game is well-rounded with her outside shooting, ability to drive/finish strong, and her mid-range game that comes with a pretty runner. She’s a scrappy player who will dive on the floor, take a charge, and do the dirty work for her team. She can score it in big situations and makes some pretty dishes to her loaded squad. Alonya is a hard worker who will continue to push herself in the upcoming years.
