As the list continues to grow Prep Girls Hoops Kansas offers a glimpse of who will join the list in the near future by sharing details nine 2023s set to be added.
Catherine “Cat” Goodwin, St. Thomas Aquinas, PG, Team KC Hoops – The transfer from Pembroke Hill (MO) will easily debut in the top ten if not top five. With angle breaking handles and a stop-on-a-dime step-back three point shot, Goodwin strongly attacks full-court man pressure.
Mallory Hertzel, Maize, SF – The lanky Hertzel is able to finish with speed off a pick going end-to-end. She has good vision with ability to make the quick, catchable pass to a cutter off the bounce.
Jill Holwick, McLouth, 5’8″, G – Northeast Kansas League honorable mention. Averaged 10 points. Made 35 threes.
MaKinsey Jones, Topeka West, 6’0″, F – 580preps, in their January Tournament Preview, described Jones as the team’s breakout player. 580preps also said she “…has stood out with her size and athleticism, particularly on the defensive end.”
Kynlee Lakey, Frontenac, 5’8″, SF – Good elevation on mid-range jumper over defender. Okay handles, can whirl on the fly. Quick hops. Streaky scorer, had nine points in six first half minutes in their quarterfinal state tournament win.
Hattie Pyle, Frontenac, 5’7″, CG – Starter on 3A state tournament team, ended with eight rebounds in their quarterfinal win. CNC League first team.
Mia Sarwinski, Galena, 5’3″, PG – Sarwinski earned KBCA 3A honorable mention and CNC League first team honors. Quick three point shot. Runs the floor well and is able to finish off the catch on the fly.
Karsyn Slothower, Maize, PG – 580preps, in their January Tournament Preview, offered a nice overview of Slothower’s game. They described her as fast with good length, strong handles, and an ability to finish athletically splitting defenders. She makes good use of ball fake to get a step and has a sense of where the basket is when not looking.
Aubrey Winter, Trinity Academy, SG – Winter handles the ball well and with speed in the open court. She makes effective use of a whirl to get by opponent. Winter has solid three point range.
