With the graduation of players like these, it will open up the opportunity of other players to come in and prove to the State of their talent and abilities. Beaverton’s Alexa Borter was relied on by the Beavers to do the small things, but will be one of the cornerstones of the offense next season. Players like Leah Doutt Leah Doutt 5'8" | PG McNary | 2021 State OR already had a name to the game, but injury plagued her last season and she looks to get healthy and keep things moving. There are also players like Healy Bledsoe Healy Bledsoe 5'11" | SF Summit | 2021 State OR and Zoe Fry who were significant post players for their respective teams who look to continue into their big role for Summit and South Salem. Here are the breakout players for the 2021 class.
Alexa Borter 2021 5’11″ SF Beaverton HS – With the graduation of the Erikstrup twins as well as Mary Kay Naro, the Beavers will look to rebound in a huge fashion. Alexa Borter will look upon new leadership roles for Beaverton as the lone senior starter in the group as they look to reload upon their highly successful season. Alexa was relied upon by her teammates to hit open three’s, read the defense for the correct play, and play defense. She can score inside as well and take you on the dribble, so be on the lookout for her increased role.
Healy Bledsoe Healy Bledsoe 5'11" | SF Summit | 2021 State OR 5’11″ PF Summit HS – The extremely athletic post for Summit looks to cap off her basketball career for the Storm in big fashion. Healy is purely known as a defensive force as her athletic abilities mixed with her aggressiveness results in rebounds and blocks for the cross country runner. She is a huge asset for her team that makes the game so much easier for everybody else. The only missing component is a more consistent offensive game for Bledsoe, which she is fully capable of.
Leah Doutt Leah Doutt 5'8" | PG McNary | 2021 State OR 2021 5’6″ PG McNary HS – Leah is a smooth, floor general for McNary that battled injuries last season as things didn’t go as planned for her. However, she still displays the fundamental point guard skills that coaches were raving about, as that doesn’t disappear. With her senior season in front of her, she looks to have a healthy and successful campaign to prove to everybody out there that she is amongst one of the best operators out there.
Maya Hoff Maya Hoff 6'1" | PG Southridge | 2021 State OR 2023 6’1″ PG Southridge HS – Maya showed signs of superstar status last season for Southrdige, as they made a run into the State Tournament. With the departure of McKelle Meek, Hoff will be projected to be their role leadership and ramp up her offensive skills. She was a proven scorer and facilitator and with the keys of the offense, it will be a matter of how much she can proliferate and project her skills into big time numbers.
Zoe Fry 2021 6’2″ C South Salem HS – With the onset of Hilary James Hilary James 5'6" | PG South Salem | 2021 OR and her facilitation skills as well as ball handling skills along with the graduation of Victoria Stafford, the Saxons will need a new down-low threat. Look no further than Fry, who has a long, slender build that helps with her on the defensive end especially. If she can continue to rebound at a good pace and find different ways to score, she will be a cornerstone for a dangerous South Salem team.
Anna Dazey Anna Dazey 5'7" | PG Corvallis | 2021 State OR 2021 5’7″ PG Corvallis HS – With a successful season last year making the 5A State Tournament at Gill Coliseum and taking initiative as the team leader, Dazey looks to cap off with a just as successful senior season. The Spartans have a young group, as they will only graduate one senior starter. Anna should have the confidence and persistence to be a team leader now she has the experience and leadership qualities to prove that Corvallis is a competitor in the 5A.
Mia Martineau Mia Martineau 5'7" | SG Oregon City | 2021 State OR 2021. Oregon City HS – Mia definitely came into their own last season, as she showed her versatile overall game for Oregon City. She was amongst the leaders in three-point percentage during the Portland Holiday Classic as well as averaged as staggering 3.67 steals per game during the tournament. Particularly known as a defensive player at this point, she has the chance to take hold as the team’s most poignant scorer with the departure of Tyra Bradford.
