The Bay Area is known for its prosperous community of high school basketball players, and there is an abundance of players to keep an eye out for. As basketball becomes a more competitive sport to be a part of as the years go on, players are looking to make their way up to the top. The Bay Area has one of the highest-ranking player prospects in all of California, specifically the North Coast Section. College coaches should keep an eye out for this group of players in the graduating class of 2021 when games are back in session.
Listed is a group of 5 prospects that should be recognized as some of the most talented and skilled players in the North Coast Section of California.
Rose Morse- (2021), SG & PG, Las Lomas High School
Rose is seen to be one of the most versatile on the court when she is playing. She is everywhere you need her to be. When you need a play to be executed, she is on it. When you need her to be in a spot to make a jump shot, she drills it in. Most importantly, most of the shots she takes are consistent. You can tell that she puts in the work outside of her games, Not only that, she is also currently ranked #1 in the North Coast Section for scoring, at 22.1 PPG, with 420 points in total in the 2019-2020 high school basketball season. Coaches should be on the lookout for Rose’s ability to make a clutch shot in the last seconds of a close game.
Kylie Horstmeyer Kylie Horstmeyer 6'0" | SG Redwood City | 2021 State CA – (2021), SG & PG, Redwood High School
You will not be able to miss Kylie’s presence on the court when you are watching one of her games. She is all over the place. She is a 6”1 guard that has an eminent presence when it comes to defense, such as blocking and defensive rebounding and picking off passing lanes, but her ball-handling skills are just as adequate. She is able to dribble down the court from coast to coast and score on her own. Kylie has outstanding scoring abilities. Kylie is currently ranked at #3 for scoring in the North Coast Section, at 19.8 PPG, and at 11.7 RPG during the 2019-2020 season. Those numbers demonstrate that she is an all-around great player on the court, and you can trust her to create a play when needed.
Kendra Grant- (2021), PG & SF, Dublin High School, East Bay Tigers
One word to describe Kendra, tenacity. She is determined to score every time she touches the ball. She has a great feel around the basket, any ball passed to her on the block, she will be very consistent in her scoring. She is very physical and is strong in the post when she has the ball. Kendra also has a killer spin move. Opponents won’t even know it’s coming. Her quickness and athleticism definitely enhance her skill level on the court. Last but not least, she is a dangerous player when it comes to shooting. Her mid-range jumpers and 3-point shooting are very consistent. Kendra is currently ranked at #5 in the North Coast Section in 3-point shooting, and once you watch her play, you’ll know why. She has made 44 3-pointers in the 2019-2020 season and averages 43%. Do not miss seeing Kendra play on the court, with her dagger jump shot.
Alexsandra Alvarado- (2021), PG & SG, Salesian College Preparatory High School
Being a captain of her nationally ranked high school team, she is unquestionably a prospect that college coaches should keep their eyes on. One thing to look out for is that she is always running down the court on a fast break. You can always count on her as a teammate when it comes to fast break. She is a go-getter when she has an opportunity to score, she takes it. She has the ability to take on any player at any height. Being 5”3’, this is really impressive. Alexsandra creates free-throw opportunities against her opponents because she is willing to go up against any player at any size. She currently has made 91 free throws in the 2019-2020 season. Alexsandra is a very confident player that is willing to take risks with any shot attempt, and you need a player that is willing to do whatever it takes to score.
Jadyn Anderson- (2021), F, James Logan High School
Jadyn should be well known for her movement off the ball, she is always receiving the ball in great scoring positions. Her defensive presence on the court is definitely well noticeable amongst viewers, and she is continuously on her toes when it comes to defending an opponent. Jadyn commits smart defensive plays. Jadyn is very active not only defensively, but offensively as well. She creates scoring opportunities for herself, and finishes most of her shot attempts. Jadyn is a player on the rise and should be recognized as a hard worker with a great work ethic on the court. Jadyn ranks at #18 in scoring in the North Coast Section but is bound to be higher in the rankings in no time
