Courtney Wristen commits to University of San Diego
These are stressful and uncertain times but Courtney Wristen Courtney Wristen 6'2" | PF Broomfield | 2021 State CO and her family can now find some comfort in the fact that she has checked off a major life decision.
On Thursday, the 6-foot-2 Broomfield forward announced via Twitter that she has committed to play basketball at the University of San Diego following her upcoming senior season in 2020-21.
“I always wanted to wait out my decision until early in my senior year,” Wristen said. “But with club season probably not happening, it sped everything up for me. Throughout this whole quarantine, I’ve just been thinking and praying on it. When I went out and visited last year, I was close to committing on the spot. The more I thought about it and talked about it with my parents, my gut just told me San Diego was the place for me.”

As a junior with the Broomfield Eagles this past winter, Wristen averaged 14.2 points, nine rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.3 blocks per game. She had 12 double-doubles and shot 35 percent (19 for 55) from 3-point range. With Wristen leading the way, the Eagles reached the Class 5A Sweet 16.

Wristen is ranked No. 6 in the Prep Girls Hoops Colorado Class of 2021 player rankings. also considered University of Northern Colorado, University of Wyoming and the University of Denver among her final choices.
“Obviously, it was a tough decision because she had quite a few offers,” Broomfield head coach Mike Croell said. “San Diego did a great job of recruiting her and she had a chance to get out there and visit. I think she felt a good vibe out there and all the intangibles are good at San Diego. They were really up front with her and she felt good about how she saw herself in that program.”
