What are the stipulations? None, really. Regardless of class and regardless of positions, what’s our top 10?
#1 Macey Blevins Macey Blevins 5'11" | SG Wayne County | 2021 State KY , Wayne County (2021) – Our second ranked player in the 2021 class, Blevins is an elite scorer and a really good rebounder at the guard spot. She’s likely the most valuable player to her team of anyone on this list and her value to her team cannot be emphasized enough. Macey has about a dozen D1 offers at this point and should be a good player at the mid major college level and will contribute early on.
#2 Halle Collins, North Laurel (2025) – This will probably surprise some folks but looking at potential, Collins is the best 2025 in the state and made a big impact on the varsity level this season as a 7th grader. She’s only going to get better over the next 5 seasons too. She was second on the team in scoring and led the team in rebounding and just about every other category. Halle has a lot of potential and could be in the neighborhood of Erin Boley/ Makayla Epps type of recruits in the near future.
#3 Rachel Presley Rachel Presley 6'2" | C South Laurel | 2022 State KY , South Laurel (2022) – I have a soft spot for good post players and Presley is one of the best in the state who will only get better. She’s a throwback big who plays with her back to the basket. Rachel has great body control and uses that to wall up on defense and contest a lot of shots without fouling. Her Sophomore season was limited to 8 games but Presley will be one of the leaders for a reloading South Laurel group next season.
#4 Clara Collins, South Laurel (2023) – Another member of the bright future for the lady Cards, Clara has a chance to be a really good college prospect as her skill level continues to develop. She’s a good shooter who could become a great shooter and the offense at South Laurel should allow her to get plenty of looks.
#5 Presley Partin Presley Partin 5'6" | SG Knox Central | 2021 State KY , Knox Central (2021) – Likely the best long range shooter on this list, Presley shot 41% from three last season and could thrive as a shooting specialist in college. She’s a good rebounder at the guard spot and capable of making tough shots as she sees double teams frequently and still manages to score just shy of 20 per game.
#6 Whitney Caldwell Whitney Caldwell 5'8" | CG Pineville | 2021 State KY , Pineville (2021) – The first committed player in the area, Whitney is off the board to Cumberlands already. Primarily a slasher and mid range jump shooter, Caldwell is a tough player who can guard multiple positions. She’s the likely front runner for 13th region player of the year next season.
#7 Casey Coleman Casey Coleman 5'11" | PF Rockcastle County | 2021 State KY , Rockcastle County (2021) – One of the more versatile players on the list, Coleman will be joining Caldwell at Cumberlands for college. Casey is transitioning to being a big wing after being stuck in the post frequently up until the last year or so. With her length, she should be able to guard nearly every position on the floor.
#8 Alexa Smiddy Alexa Smiddy 5'5" | PG Southwestern | 2021 State KY , Southwestern (2021) – The only true point guard on the list, Alexa’s value gets a little overlooked at Southwestern because their team has been so balanced the last few seasons. Smiddy is the engine that makes their offense go and will have to take a bigger offensive role in her Senior season.
#9 Raigan King Raigan King 6'0" | C Pineville | 2021 State KY , Pineville (2021) – An efficient low post scorer, King has a chance to be a good player at the next level but needs to become a more active rebounder. As a Junior, Raigan shot 63% from the field and didn’t attempt a 3 all season if that gives you an idea of her “throwback post player” game.
#10 Jade Pevley Jade Pevley 5'11" | PF Garrard County | 2022 State KY , Garrard County (2022) – There are several players who could occupy this spot but Pevley gets the nod thanks to her all around game as a scorer and, more importantly, a rebounder. She averaged just shy of a double-double as a Sophomore and the potential is there for her to be the best big in the region the next two seasons. She only attempted 5 threes last season but could be a decent shooter if allowed to stretch her game out.
