Some of whom are no stranger to the spotlight, while others will be stepping out from the shadows of their predecessors. Here is a list of a few players expected to be a driving force for the success of their teams:
Maya Whiteside Maya Whiteside 6'0" | SF George Washington | 2021 State CO – George Washington
The six-foot point guard is the seventh-ranked PGH Colorado junior who was voted first team all-conference for the Denver Prep League. Whiteside finished second in the division in blocks with a total of 83 on the year. She finished the season averaging 11.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, and 3.2 steals per game. Whiteside has proven herself to be one of the top players in her class because of the well-rounded skill set that she brings to the court.
Nikki Derrell Nikki Derrell 5'3" | PG Sand Creek | 2021 State CO – Sand Creek
The 16th PGH Colorado ranked junior finished fifth in the division in three-pointers (59) while leading the highest-scoring 4A offense in points with a total of 349. Derrell ended the year averaging 14.5 points, 3.9 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game. The 5-foot-2 guard was voted first team all-conference for the Pikes Peake Athletic Conference for her outstanding performance with the Scorpions.
Anna Hefner Anna Hefner 5'11" | PF Erie | 2021 State CO – Erie
Hefner is a player whose production blended in with the overwhelming firepower that is the Tiger’s roster. Hefner’s fantastic low-post season performance helped Erie reach the state quarterfinals while earning her a spot on the first team all-conference list for the Tri-Valley League. The 5-foot-11 center averaged 10 points and 7.2 rebounds a game. A noteworthy stat line that she will undoubtedly be looking to increase next season.
Amyah Moore Amyah Moore 5'9" | SG Harrison | 2021 State CO – Harrison
The 5-foot-7 shooting guard/small forward led the 4A division in scoring, totaling 502 points on the season. Moore finished the year averaging 21.8 points, six rebounds, four steals, and 3.3 assists per game. She is PGH Colorado’s 23rd ranked junior who was named first team all-conference in the Colorado Springs Metro League. Moore’s versatility played a significant role in the Panthers making a postseason appearance, a skill set that will be leaned on heavily next season.
Liberty Line Liberty Line 5'7" | SG Ponderosa | 2021 State CO – Ponderosa
Not only was Line the division’s three-point leader, but she also finished third in the state for shots made from beyond the perimeter with a total of 71. The 5-foot-7 guard is the 21st ranked PGH Colorado junior and she was named first team all-conference for the Continental League. Line’s season average of 16.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game helped the Mustangs reach the second round of the state playoffs.
