Being young players, there is still time to dominate the paint inside and for them to grow as athletes. Sophomore season is in the books for these ladies, and it was a good one.
Here is a look at what these players have done.
Alex Pirog Alex Pirog 6'3" | C Highlands Ranch | 2022 State CO (Highlands Ranch)

She is a great rim runner, establishing good low-post positioning. Pirog averaged 7.6 points per game on 85-154 (55 percent) from the field. Pirog is an easy target in the post with her size and length, standing at 6-foot-2. Due to her size, she is able to get her hands on a lot of blocks in the paint or chasing down would-be scorers in the open court. She averaged 7.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. Pirog has shown tremendous improvement in her game from her freshman year through her sophomore campaign.

Crispe is a tough competitor who plays with a lot of passion on the floor. She stands at 6-foot-1 with good physicality to her game. Crispe is a tough matchup, as she is able to knock down shots from the outside and mid range, and has the ability to attack off the dribble. She averaged 12.2 points per game on 115-for-265 (43 percent) shooting from the field, leading her team in points. With her ability to stretch the floor and going 10 for 33 (30 percent) from behind the arc, Crispe scored a season high in points with 19 twice this past season against Cherry Creek and Cherokee Trail. Crispe also averaged 8.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in 2019-20.
Kilah Freelon Kilah Freelon 6'0" | PF Mullen | 2022 State CO (Mullen)
Freelon is one of the most improved players in her class and plays on one of the deepest rosters in the state. She has great foot speed and is extremely athletic. She is a player that has established herself on the varsity roster at Mullen, and has shown she can contribute in a number of ways to help the team win. Freelon averaged 3.1 points and 3.0 rebounds a game. She has good touch around the rim and does well in transition. As Freelon continues to develop and improve, she could be tough to handle.
Payton Bang Payton Bang 6'1" | PF Chaparral | 2022 State CO (Chaparral)
The Bang twins are tough to contain when they are playing well, and together. Standing at 6-foot-1, Bang can certainly dominate opponents in the post with her great footwork and moves in the inside. She is not afraid to get after it on loose balls and the boards. Bang averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds. She brings the energy to help her team succeed and went 76 for 194 (39 percent) from the floor with the majority of her scoring coming from the paint.
Juliette Fillion Juliette Fillion 6'1" | PF Lakewood | 2022 State CO (Lakewood)
Fillion loves to look for her shot whether that be in the midrange or behind the arc. She is a tough matchup when she draws opposing post players out to guard her on the perimeter, which creates opportunities for lane attacks for her teammates. Fillion averaged 6.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, and 1.9 blocks as a sophomore. Fillion shot the ball 64-172 (37 percent) from the field, and 29-77 (38 percent) from behind the arc. She moves her feet well on the defensive end allowing her to keep her players in front. As she improve year after year Fillion can be a player that can very versatile.
