Below is a list of standout players and a description of their style of play for coaches and other teams to watch this summer.
Riley Spencer Riley Spencer 5'7" | CG Westosha Central | 2022 State WI | Westosha Central | WI Impact White | 5’7 G
A versatile wing player that has the potential to do a bit of everything. Offensive, she can score in the paint and from beyond the arc. She has great body control and a high release on her shot. She can absorb and finish through contact as well.
Bailey Alvarez | 5’5 G | Kettle Moraine | LIT White
Has confidence beyond the arc. Has ample ball handling skills to where she could excel at positions 1-3. A high motor on offense and defense. A surprisingly impactful rebounder at her height. Alvarez is patient off the catch and uses a jab step to work through progressions.
Madisyn Kail | 5’5 SF | Brodhead | LIT White
A rare combination of height and power, Kail really holds her own inside. With a great athletic build, Kail contributes in many ways. She wasn’t the go-to scorer for her Brodhead team, however is a player to keep an eye on during summer action. She works hard and I believe she has multiple crafty moves she has yet to put into play.
Ally Yundt | 5’7 G | Monona Grove | LIT White
A key role player for Monona Grove, Yundt has the ability to be extra special for this LIT White team. She has a confident jumper overall that is pretty consistent. Yundt always has her hands ready, which allows her to reduce her release time. She gets clean looks on offense while moving well without the ball. A facilitator when need be, Yundt can handle the point guard position as well.
Abby Blum | 5’2 G | Janesville Parker | LIT White
A scrappy guard for both her Janesville Parker and her Let it Rain squad, Blum makes for any exciting guard to watch compete. She moves well with the ball and has tremendous ball handling ability. She seems to have great court-vision and communication with her teammates on the floor. Blum will continue to develop her footwork to match her quickness and become a huge defensive threat. She can score as well, knocking down three pointers far beyond the arc.
Avery Poole Avery Poole 5'7" | PG Monona Grove | 2022 State WI | 5’8 PG | Monona Grove | LIT Black
Poole burst onto the scene fairly late into her career this past couple years, but has shown that she has a tremendous upside. Athleticism is her defending factor as of now, she has impressive handles and a great ability to balance her body when attacking the rim. Poole does well finishing with either hand around the rim and is great at finishing through contact despite her slender frame. Passing skills, especially with one hand, are very well developed.
Payton Lang | 5’8 SF Oregon | LIT Black
Look for Lang to develop from a role player to a key impact player for this Oregon squad next season. She has great strength and doesn’t shy away from contact. She can knock down the three with consistency and can attack from perimeter as well. She has a solid mid-range game which shows on her LIT Black squad, and I’d look for her to become even more confident pulling up off the dribble. A great defender as well Lang can guard 1-5.
Ashley Sawicki Ashley Sawicki 6'1" | SF Waunakee | 2022 State WI | 6’1 F | Waunakee | LIT Black
A solid forward that is a capable scorer and finisher in the lane. She seems to have a better feel for the inside game than the outside game. She is a very skilled scorer in the lane, whether it be on the block, a floater, or a midrange running, she’s consistently impacting from the lane. She has advanced body control for a player her size. She has a good blow-by speed for her size as well. She creates contact well and does a great job finishing.
Ava Bryan | 5’10 F | Waunakee | LIT Black
A strong forward with great upside and high ceiling for improvement. She is super athletic and can get up and down the floor so well. She’s a transition player, she thrives off long layups and catching and finishing on the run. However, I’ve seen a glimpse of greatness from Bryan on the block and I’d look for her to show off her skills on the block this summer.
Kate Huml Kate Huml 5'7" | CG Janesville Craig | 2022 State WI | 5’7 G | Janesville Craig | LIT Black
The second leading scorer for Janesville Craig is looking to have a huge summer for Let It Rain Black. Huml is a springy athlete that excels at running the offense. She is super dynamic and a great playmaker as well. She has excellent on court vision and flashy passes to her teammates. She is a lock-down defender and thrives on guarding the opposing team’s best player. She does well squaring her body up before knocking down a midrange jumper.
Jordyn Hudson | 5’5 G | Waukesha West | 1on1 Milwaukee
Hudson is extremely controlled but a very speedy point guard. She is great at dictating the pace of the game, and she’s good at playing fast or slowing it down. She works well in the pick-and-roll and finds her post players well. Hudson works well off the ball as well. She has a fiery motor and is able to play defense on either guard because of her lateral quickness.
Allie Spaltholz | 5’8 CG | South Milwaukee | 1on1 Milwaukee
A solid role player who does all the fundamentals right. She can shoot, dribble, facilitate and create. Her versatility is through the roof and I’d look for her to have a breakout season for South Milwaukee during her junior year. A solid defender as well, Spaltholz can guard multiple positions on the floor.
Sierra Skack Sierra Skack 5'7" | CG Muskegoo | 2022 WI | 5’6 G | Muskego | 1on1 Milwaukee
A solid offensive threat, especially with her jump shot. Her shooting form is exactly the same every single shot, she isn’t rattled by high pressure defense or a hand in the face. She is fantastic both off the catch and off the dribble. She has super quick hands on both ends of the floor as well. She does well at pounding the dribble on offense as well, giving her so many options offensively.
Nevaiah Bell- Tenner | 5’8 CG | Racine Lutheran | 1on1 Milwaukee
Bell- Tenner has a spectacular layup and finishing package. Her repertoire of moves for finishing contested layups is beautiful to watch. When she is driving downhill, she’s looking to draw the foul, but still keeps her body in a position to finish. She’s a great isolation player and is very comfortable taking her defender 1 on 1. She does a great job of drawing the defender out far past the three point line. She has a great shot form as well and a smooth release. She brings tons of energy to the game and works well with her talented post players.
Cailtin Behling | 5’9 G | South Milwaukee | 1on1 Milwaukee
A guard with great size to her game, Behling can surely impact in multiple ways for both teams. Behling is a surprisingly solid defender at her height. She pressures the ball well and reads offensive sets when she’s off the ball. She has great instincts and ability to foresee plays. On the offensive side, she is great at getting into the lane and finishing contested layups. She’s fantastic in transition, especially when making the lead outlet passes to the open player. Look for her to add some consistency to her perimeter shooting.
Jada Eggebrecht | Phillips | WI Playmakers | 5’8 G
Another versatile guard with an innate ability to knock down tough, contested shots. She does well using a floater, running and a size-up shot. When she is being covered tightly, she will always find a way to get the ball in the hoop. She has solid size and length and can play off the ball while still being very effective. She has a high basketball IQ and understanding for her role on the floor. Eggebrecht’s potential at the next level is high.
Taneea Henderson Taneea Henderson 5'8" | CG Sparta | 2022 State WI | Stanley | WI Playmakers | 5’7 CG
Henderson continues to improve everytime I watch her compete. She’s improved greatly at shooting off the dribble, especially her jump shot. The ability to create her own shot has gotten much better. She isn’t afraid of contact and will actually throw her body onto contact, get on the floor, and scrap for the ball. She seems to hate losing more than she loves winning and has a high level of competitiveness on the floor. She also uses multiple create shots when she gets rolling offensively.
Lily Hoel | Stanley | WI Playmakers | 5’11 F
Hoel has a good natural athleticism shown by her ability to finish high on the glass and grab put back buckets. Hoel attacks the basket fearlessly and is not afraid of contact- in fact she looks for it. She is skilled on the block and steady squaring up her body. She runs the floor well and keeps her head up ready to make the transition bucket. Hoel is continuing to develop her perimeter shooting stroke and on ball pressure defense.
