10 High Basketball IQ PG’s In 2021
We will now look at 5 point guards in the class of 2022 that use their very high basketball IQ’s as a tool in their game.
Brooke Daniels Brooke Daniels PG Macomb L'Anse Creuse | 2022 State MI (PG, L’Anse Creuse North)
I would describe Daniels as aggressively smart. She plays downhill, attacks off the dribble, and makes the right decision with the ball from there. Daniels ability to attack with precision helps create efficient offensive possessions for her team.
Lauren Gunn Lauren Gunn PG Saginaw Heritage | 2022 State MI (PG, Saginaw Heritage)
Gunn came in to high school basketball ready to play in pressure situations. Her mature game allowed her to be a key contributor on a state championship team. Gunn’s basketball IQ helped her become a lockerroom leader in just her sophomore season.
Alyssa Matuza Alyssa Matuza PG Troy | 2022 State MI (PG, Troy)
Matuzza is an underrated floor general. She’s a solid passer that plays with her head on a swivel and sees the entire court. Matuza has an innate understanding of what’s going on around her on the court. This helps her to make high percentage plays and to run an efficient offense.
Mya Petticord Mya Petticord 5'9" | PG Arbor Prep | 2022 State #33 Nation MI (PG, Arbor Prep)
Much like wat I said with Damiya Hagemann Damiya Hagemann 5'8" | PG Detroit Edison | 2021 State #35 Nation MI in the 2021 article – you can’t be 1 of the top point guard prospects in the country without an extremely high basketball IQ. Petticord just gets it, and she has since her high school career began. You can see her think through every possession and fluidly execute her thoughts.
Avery Zeinstra Avery Zeinstra 5'7" | PG Byron Center | 2022 State MI (PG, Byron Center)
Zeinstra proved that she was a star player very early in her freshman season, and has continued ever since. She’s a heady floor general that can score and dish at a high level. Zeinstra recognizes good scoring opportunities and can open up a teammate with her pass.
