After strong performances, it’s time to get their names out there as promising prospects in Arizona. There were many more we could have chosen from, so it was tough to settle on just these young four performers.
Siajonet Burley (5’5”, Poston Butte, 2023)
Burley is a high octane player who excels on the defensive end. She plays the passing lanes as well as anyone regardless of class. Burley’s ability to accelerate and change directions is truly amazing and it will be a valuable asset once she further defines her abilities on the offensive side. She plays with purpose and determination and Burley is well conditioned.
Jaydin Thornton-Murray-Garrigan (5’6”, Shadow Ridge, 2024)
Known as TMG, this prospect has some really good upside. TMG has good size for the combo position, moves well, and solid all-around athleticism. She’s also a nice perimeter shooter who can make open rhythm jumpers consistently. Although she it still early in her development, she has improved since we last saw her perform in November-2019. TMG will be a nice addition to the Shadow Ridge squad that returns its 2 top scorers from last season – Kelsey Erickson (2022) and Halle Bryan (2022).
Khamil Pierre (6”, Perry, 2023)
Pierre is a nice looking prospect with great length and wingspan. She is still growing into her body as most players her age with this type of length. Pierre is efficient and active in the paint on both ends of the court and she runs well in transition. Pierre played Varsity on a talented and deep Perry team and gained valuable experience. Due to recent transfers, she will be counted on heavily for the Pumas in her upcoming soph season. Pierre also excels on the soccer field.
Kyah Williams (5′, Paradise Honors, 2024)
Williams was probably the smallest player in the event nonetheless she was one of the more effective underclassmen guards. She creates havoc with the ball in her hands as she understands driving angles and she can get to basket asap due to quickness and a good first step. Her mid range jumper was hitting for most of the event and she displayed good vision at the point.
Williams uses her size and quickness to her advantage as solid on the ball defender. She gets low and plays fundamental defense without taking unnecessary or ill-advised chances. Williams is a fearless competitor.
