Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2022’s who could be primed for big seasons.
Macy Sievers Macy Sievers 5'7" | SG Newell-Fonda | 2022 State IA – Newell-Fonda

Sievers led the Mustangs this past year to another perfect season as the leading scorer at 14.6 points per game. She was one of eight players with double-digit made 3-pointers, sinking 40 percent of her shots from long-range.
Sievers, who shot 65 percent from the field overall, also added 122 assists, 99 rebounds and 89 steals. She also had a 4-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio for the Mustangs.
Camrin Baird – Woodbury Central
Like all who stood before them, Woodbury Central was unable to get past Newell-Fonda this year, finishing with 18 wins.
With leading scorer Maddie Paulsen Maddie Paulsen 5'10" | SF Woodbury Central | 2020 State IA graduating, sophomore Camrin Baird is sure to be the focus of the offense.
Baird scored 295 points with 85 rebounds, 55 steals, 34 assists and 21 blocks, shooting 38 percent from the floor.
She also stretched out defenses with 31 made 3-pointers, which led the Wildcats.
Leah Cooper – Boyer Valley
Boyer Valley sophomore Leah Cooper flirted with averaging a double-double this winter, finishing the year at 10.8 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Cooper has the skills to improve upon those marks this coming season. She showed the ability to shoot from both long-range and to get to the free throw line, and with more consistency, should be even more effective.
To go along with her 227 points and 162 rebounds, Cooper also tallied 56 steals and 42 assists.
Carmyn Paup – Paton-Churdan
Part of a young roster for Paton-Churdan, Carmyn Paup did a number of things that helped the Rockets secure a winning season both overall and in the conference.
Paup posted 159 points, 130 rebounds, 85 assists, 34 steals and 33 made 3-pointers.
Josie McCluskey – Westwood
With just seniors on the roster, Westwood needed players to step up and fill holds. Sophomore Josie McCluskey was one of them to do just that.
McCluskey averaged nine points per game, finishing as one of three players with over 40 made triples. She also had 67 rebounds, 33 assists and 19 steals.
