Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2023’s who need to be on your radar.
Madison Brouwer Madison Brouwer 6'0" | PF Sibley-Ocheyedan | 2023 State IA – Sibley-Ocheyedan
The 2019-20 season presented a learning curve for many members of the Sibley-Ocheyedan roster, as freshmen and sophomores saw plenty of time on the court.
Class of 2023’s Madison Brouwer Madison Brouwer 6'0" | PF Sibley-Ocheyedan | 2023 State IA was among those who “grew up” on the varsity floor.
Brouwer led the Generals with 335 total points and 217 rebounds, shooting almost 49 percent from the field with a dozen made triples. She also produced 66 steals, 61 assists and 43 blocks on the season.
Addison Klosterbuer Addison Klosterbuer 5'9" | SG Central Lyon | 2023 State IA – Central Lyon
Central Lyon was on the doorstep to qualifying for the state tournament, winning 18 games and reaching a regional championship this past winter.
Freshman Addison Klosterbuer Addison Klosterbuer 5'9" | SG Central Lyon | 2023 State IA stepped right in and became a long-range threat for the Lions.
Klosterbuer, who averaged seven points per game, made 44 three-pointers to tie for the team lead. She shot 37 percent from deep, adding 86 rebounds, 28 assists, 25 steals and a team-best 16 blocked shots.
Aubree Lake – Hinton
Hinton picked up a postseason victory, finishing the year with 11 wins in all. Class of 2023’s Aubree Lake was an instrumental piece to that run.
Lake scored 169 total points, adding 81 assists, 49 rebounds and 27 steals on the year. She started 19 games as a newcomer to the roster.
The Blackhawks are set to return all but two players from the roster, giving the team high hopes for the coming season.
Bria Wasmund Bria Wasmund 5'5" | PG Sibley-Ocheyedan | 2023 State IA – Sibley-Ocheyedan
Another key piece to the youth movement at Sibley-Ocheyedan was newcomer Bria Wasmund Bria Wasmund 5'5" | PG Sibley-Ocheyedan | 2023 State IA .
Paired up with classmate Madison Brouwer Madison Brouwer 6'0" | PF Sibley-Ocheyedan | 2023 State IA , Wasmund scored 282 points with a team-high 103 assists. She also had 84 rebounds, 63 steals and made 35 three-pointers, shooting over 40 percent from deep.
Ashlyn Reintzel – Hinton
Along with classmate Aubree Lake, Ashlyn Reintzel made her way into the starting rotation for Hinton this past winter.
Reintzel scored 115 points, making 14 three-pointers with 43 rebounds, 16 steals and 13 assists. The future looks very promising for the Blackhawks with their returning cast of players.
