With a couple of athletic 2024 players, Zachara Perkins (St Pius) and Jade Williams (Huffman) who have both made my Tip Sheets in the past, watching their progression while playing up told me a lot but here’s my first look at the 2023 group
Aliyah Carter (Cedar Park HS)
Carter’s dad was telling me about his daughter and I didn’t realize I had seen her opening day and to say I was impressed is an understatement. She attacks the basket relentlessly and finishes after contact but even more impressive was her explosiveness in the open court while handling the ball under control. The pull-up is nice and smooth and her upside is scary
Shanel Reid (Austin HS)
Reid does a good job attacking the rim, she’s athletic and uses her athleticism wisely but observing her make pinpoint passes off the dribble said a lot because when you’re going full speed and not only see the floor but thread the needle, that’s huge but she also showed she could rebound on both ends
Aubrey Reid (Austin HS)
Reid elevates off the ground and watching her go up, up and away snagging the ball gives you a glimpse of her athleticism. She also not only defended but her reactions on switching and playing the passing lane stood out and with her length, to go along with that athleticism, remember that’s the base
I didn’t get a chance to see everyone, Syona Mandyam (Austin Westlake) and Kennedy Hill (Fulshear) both showed upside but I’ll be able to catch everyone moving forward so Harper Biley (Cy Falls) Erin Lloyd (Langham Creek) and Sophia Read (Lago Vista) be ready
