Cy Creek is in the driver’s seat for the upcoming season yet several teams will be ready to ride shotgun and the Memorial squad will be one of them. Memorial players Giana Vlahakos, good size, rebounds and finishes and Mackenzie McCown, attacks well and can hit the outside shot, as well as Ella Smith and Madeline Webster, both from St Agnes, are all solid on both ends of the court but here are some of the others
2022
Katelyn Chomko-Tomball Memorial
Chomko has always been able to attack the basket strongly yet watching her create her shot, under pressure and hit it over and over over the years has been nice. She plays within herself and does a good job on the defensive end
Skyler Witt- Episcopal
Witt showed me I wasn’t seeing a mirage at the Extravaganza hosted by She’s Ballin in San Antonio, well Universal City because she was “ballin” in Webster as well. She has a nice first step, handles the ball well under pressure and attacks hard
2023
Taylor Wilson-Katy Taylor
Wilson also does a good job at taking defenders off the dribble and creating contact but her finishing after contact over and over was something I’ve caught before. She also showed the pull-up in transition and did a good job defending
Abigail Tomaski-Memorial
Tomaski continues to soar, watching her get out in front of everyone on the break is definitely #THROWBACK because she gets it and she also gives it. She’s athletic, finishes acrobatically and in the open court she has shown me several highlights yet she also has range and can take defenders in the half-court setting
Riley McCloskey Riley McCloskey 5'3" | PG Memorial | 2023 State TX -Memorial
McCloskey sold me playing up a couple of seasons ago and all of my sayings, “size don’t matter when you can play” “It’s not what you do it’s who you do it against” and the ever so important “the game starts at the one” all apply because she gets it and her unselfishness and desire to make those around her better continues to stand out. She threads the needle like a master seamstress, creates her shot and can shoot it mid to long but she also attacks
2024
Nicolette Polocheck Nicolette Polocheck 6'0" | PF Memorial | 2024 State TX -Memorial
Polocheck has definitely taken her game up a notch and that says a lot since I already have her on the 2024 Watch List for Texas but she’s strong and powerful and is battling against older players and that speaks volumes for me because I hear what’s coming loud and clear. She’s definitely showing #BEASTLIKE signs in the paint, she battles for everything off the glass but she is finishing after contact consistently and at this stage, that means a lot
