Caya Smith | 6-1 F | Del Crest Middle | @CayaSmith
Smith (2024) and her BTR teammates were rolling this past weekend. They are a very fluid and dynamic team. Smith is big – not just for a soon-to-be freshman – she is bigger than most players on the court. She finishes extremely well around the basket with either hand. She also handles the ball like a guard. She uses her size extremely well in the post and scores in bunches. Smith will undoubtedly be near the top of the 2024 player rankings.
Kaylen Nelson Kaylen Nelson 5'11" | SG Union | 2021 State OK | 6-0 F | Tulsa Union | @nelson_kaylen21
Nelson (2021) can often be seen bringing the ball down the court or running the point for her Shock team. She has extremely good handles. She also is not afraid to shoot from outside. It looks like she has not only gotten taller since the high school season ended, she has definitely been working on her game. Nelson is quicker and moves very well – not that she didn’t before. She just seems to really be coming into her own now. Kaylen can absolutely take over a game. In the days following the OKC Live at the Hive tourney, nelson received offers from both Northwestern State and Old Dominion. There will no doubt be a lot more coming this year.
Carson Dean | 5-10 F | Latta
Carson Dean 2021) is all over the place. She has great size and is incredibly athletic. Dean moves well with and without the ball and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. If there’s a loose ball, you can count on Carson Dean being in the fray. She is unafraid of contact and plays very physical basketball. With the ball in her hands, she is doubly dangerous due to her ability to see the court very well. She keeps her teammates involved despite the constant threat of her clear ability to take over a game as needed. Dean is a big to target if your team needs someone who is going to work hard all-game and is an outstanding teammate.
