Last season the Classic Eight conference was led by a tough Mukwonago squad that finished 15-1 in conference play. Following close behind was Oconomowoc who finished with 13-3. Arrowhead and Kettle Moraine tied for third place with 10-6 in conference play. The remaining teams in the Classic Eight conference consists of Muskego, Waukesha West, Waukesha North, Waukesha South and Catholic Memorial. Below is a list of players who have had success in these programs and are the top returning players in this conference.
Grace Grocholski Grace Grocholski 5'10" | SF Kettle Moraine | 2023 State WI | Kettle Moraine | 2023 | 5’10 F
The standout freshman led her team in scoring, rebounding and assist last season. A triple threat for Kettle Moraine, Grocholski is so hard to defend. She’s so active on offense and can score from anywhere on the floor. A strong post player who uses her body and footwork so well inside, Grcoholski knows just how to capitalize off of contact. She averaged 16.9 points per game for Kettle Moraine. A three point shooter as well, Grocholski made 50 this season.
Braelyn Torres Braelyn Torres 5'7" | CG Kettle Moraine | 2023 State WI | Kettle Moraine | 2023 | 5’6 G
The third leading scorer for her team this season, Torres is an exciting player to watch. She’s a great overall prospect with a super high ceiling to her game. She’s super athletic and pushes the ball on offense. She plays with immense swag on offense and creates her own shot within the offense. A sniper from beyond the arc, Torres has a smooth shot. She averaged 9.8 points per game last season and made 30 three pointers.
Phoebe Frentzel Phoebe Frentzel 5'9" | CG Arrowhead | 2021 State WI | Arrowhead | 2021 | 5’9 G
The athletic guard led her team in scoring last season. At 13.7 points per game, Frentzel knows how to control the game and get her shot off. She moves well without the ball and does a great job using her teammates to get open. She’s comfortable on the three point line and isn’t frazzled by defensive pressure. She has a solid attack at the basket and finishes strong in the lane. She will again be the go-to scorer for her team this season and I’d look for her to better her perimeter percentage and become more effective mid range.
Elizabeth Cleary Elizabeth Cleary 5'7" | PG Oconomowoc | 2021 WI | Oconomowoc | 2021
Clearly helped lead her team to second in conference play this past season. A standout athlete with high endurance up and down the court, Clearly impacted the game in so many ways. She’s a dynamic guard who can take over or be a floor general. She played multiple roles for her squad last season and still was able to thrive and get her team wins. She averaged 9.4 points per game. An effective perimeter shooter as well, Cleary made 22 three point baskets for Oconomowoc. Clearly has incredible court-vision and has impressive moves feeding the post.
Alyssa Nimz | Catholic Memorial | 2021 | 6’0 F
Nimz led her team in scoring this season and proved how versatile she can be with the ball. Nimz is a bucket! The Catholic Memorial standout averaged 18.6 points per game last season. She can simply just score the basketball. At 6’0 she has a wonderful combination of size and skill. She has balance with her body and does well creating contact and drawing fouls. She’s so hard to stop on the block as she has multiple crafty post moves and is patient. A defensive threat as well, Nimz averaged 11.8 boards per game. She’s a tough player who chases after loose balls and holds a mean box out. Nimz currently holds a Division II offer from Northwest Missouri State.
