Two teams were able to reach the double digit plateau and the other got very close to that mark. All three programs have key contributors coming back for the 2020-21 season, so who will be the best of the best? Here are some of the top forwards to lookout for in Franklin County during the upcoming basketball season.
Miracle Cornell (Franklinton forward, 2021)
Rising senior forward Miracle Cornell put up excellent numbers during the 2019-20 season for Franklinton. She averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal per game helping the Rams win 12 games. At times, she was dominant scoring the basketball and even shot 44% from three point range last year. Along with fellow rising senior Katherine Wilkins, the two form a really good pair that could help Franklinton sneak into the state playoffs in 2021.
Ja’lynn Fields (Louisburg forward, 2022)
Ja’lynn Fields has the potential for a breakout junior season at Louisburg after averaging 13 points, eight rebounds, and one steal per game last season. Most of her damage was done in the paint and she excelled on both ends of the floor. The Warriors were only able to win eight games in 2020, but having one of their top scorers and rebounders back in the fold should help their chances in 2021.
Brooklyn Fields (Louisburg forward, 2022)
Brooklyn Fields is another Louisburg forward that is looking to improve her production after a good sophomore season. The rising junior forward averaged eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks per game. Like Ja’lynn Fields, she scored most of her points in the paint, but did show some extended range from time to time. The two of them should help the Warriors improve on their overall win total.
