With teams revamping their respective rosters, this county is poised for another dominant season as a whole. Here is part two of the top returning guards to lookout for in Pitt County during the 2020-21 season.
J’Nadia Maye (North Pitt guard, 2022)
J’Nadia Maye had a really good 2019-20 season for one of the best girls basketball programs in the area: the North Pitt Panthers. As a sophomore, Maye posted eight points, two rebounds, four assists, and three steals per game. She had a lot of big games throughout the season mostly as a facilitator, but was also a scoring threat at times. likely be tasked with an increased role due to the graduation of standout guard Ashanti Hines and she’s capable of being a primary scoring threat.
Kayln Baker (Farmville Central guard, 2023)
Yet another 2023 prospect that made a big impact in Pitt County, Kayln Baker played a lot of key minutes for the 2-A co-state champion Farmville Central Jaguars. The rising sophomore is a knockdown three point shooter that could also create shots for her teammates. In some of the Jaguars biggest games, she was able to hit key shots that kept her team in control and she’ll be counted once again in 2021.
Cedaria Little (Ayden-Grifton guard, 2021)
At times, rising senior Cedaria Little proved to be a consistent scoring threat in a county that features many guards that can fill it up. She put up 14 points per game last year in one of the more competitive conferences in the state. Ayden-Grifton will need a lot of production from their top returning scorer next year if they want to contend for a state playoff spot. Little is certainly capable of going off against anyone, so the Chargers should have a chance at it in the upcoming season.
