Continue ReadingThe thing about me is that I have a knack, well actually a gift at seeing young players that show me early what they are going to become. I saw Sarah Andrews Sarah Andrews 5'8" | PG Irving Macarthur | 2020 State TX playing up asked her what high school she was about to attend, she said she was going to the 6th grade, she’s heading to Baylor, I saw Brooke McCarty in the 5th grade going off in TJ Showcase, I’ll be there this weekend and I tagged her “The Chosen One”, she led her Clear Brook team to the state tournament and was a 4-year starter that also played in the WNBA. and of course, my own daughter, Sydney Colson who showed me the day she was born after the nurse slapped her and she slapped her back, this is a true story and I knew then she had quick hands and everything else would fall into place, National Championship and multiple years in the WNBA proves I was right but guess what, I’m also right every time I’ve said a player was a #D1Lock and currently LA Sneed, Aniyah Foy, Aaliyah Chavez, and Katelyn Evans all have that hashtag, I just saw Sneed #ACHGBB #GirlsEliteCombine and OMG, to say she would be an IMPACT HS player right now is an understatement and the improvement from Evans #NBC20 is scarier, stories on both events coming but check out these 5
Chandler Caver 5’8 G
Caver is a #BCSLock and you can throw away the key because one more time, I love for players that do things instinctively and how players react in situations when they’re playing up and I didn’t even take notes, just a star by her name because that’s she’ll be. Mid to long-range jumper, creates it under pressure, attacks and finishes with contact, fearless defender, handles the ball under pressure, all of this against the older players
Tatum Ott-5’7 G
Ott is a heady point guard that “thinks” the game and as far as the next level goes, that’s something you need to be successful because always remember “the game starts at the one” so watching her decision making, her ballhandling under pressure and not only seeing the floor but getting the ball to the right people definitely caught my eye
Neveah Jones-6’1 Post
Jones upside is scary and by no way is she close to where she will be, her base is solid, and here’s why. She stands at “the magic number” that’s 6’0 and I’m getting calls right now about post players that have graduated from high school, she has a solid frame, she mobile, she rebounds, she runs the floor and she finishes after contact but on top of all of that, she battles and will add more, I can see it
Adisyn Sinclair-5’1 G
Sinclair falls into the “size don’t matter” which is another hashtag I’ve made famous but had to amended to add “when you can play” and her grit, her mindset, and her comprehension tells me she already gets it so when you have solid basketball IQ and you understand how to control the tempo, that’s part of it as well as solid decision making so her upside will be watched closely
Andrea Sturdivant-5’8 G
Sturdivant sold me on a whole lot of things in the 5th grade and one of the main ones was “she was fearless” when she went on the court against incoming seniors. She has long arms, she’s athletic, she plays the passing lane, she attacks the basket from anywhere and watching her in the open court keep your eyes glued because you know something big is coming and her ability to finish with contact as well as shoot from the outside #D1Lock
