The way you achieve that goal is done by the following; first, most times it is a genetic thing, some are born more agile than others, second, you can train with a skills and plyometric trainer and he can bring some of that out of her. Lastly, if you have a young lady that is super athletic which most times very rare, this type of player if she gets the right type of training she may be able to dunk the ball on the break. I can talk about (5) girls who fit that bill in California and they are special, because schools have identified them and they did with emphasis. So here are my 2022 Athletic Specimens to evaluate in this article and they are as followed
2022, 5’11, SG, Camarillo HS, Gabriela Jaquez Gabriela Jaquez 6'0" | SF Camarillo HS | 2022 State CA – Gabriela is an athletic wing with some really good skills to her game, she can use both hands attacking the rim, but loves to get to the rim and use the backboard. She is an old school mindset player that often times uses the backboard to finish shots, this makes for a very skillful offensive game for her. She can run the floor and finish with the best of them and uses her athleticism to score or defend the ball on the court. She is gonna develop into a 2-3 for the next level and will have the ball skills and drive to be really good, do not know what UCLA is waiting for, but they better hurry up and sign this one. Her brother is already there, easy solution coaches.
2022, 5’10, SG, Mater Dei Catholic HS, Taryn Johnson Taryn Johnson 5'11" | SG Cathedral Catholic | 2022 State CA – Taryn is the most athletic girl in this group of five girls we are highlighting, she is super athletic to be exact. She is built like a college player right now, most are not able to withstand her physicality and strength on the court at all. She can score it by getting to the rim, she can stop on the dime and shoot the midrange and her three pointer is developing nicely. This kid is a stud and any school that decides to go after her with some true conviction will get a good kid, she is tough as nails.
2022, 6’1, SF, Etiwanda HS, Daisia Mitchell Daisia Mitchell 5'11" | SF Etiwanda HS | 2022 State CA – is an issue on the floor as well for the opposing team, she has the ability to handle the ball, shoot it and slash to the rim to finish thru contact. She has great size and uses it against her opponents at every waking moment, Daisia is special, she is still young and her game is just starting to develop and she is one of the most athletic wing forwards in her area. She is growing in her game each and every time I see her play, looking forward to this next season coming.
2022, 5’10, SG, Mater Dei HS, Soliel Montrose Soliel Montrose 5'10" | SG Mater Dei HS | 2022 State CA – Soliel is a force to be reckoned with on the floor, she showed her skill set and determination in the playoffs. She is very skilled for her age and a true leader on the floor, she has the personality that is ALPHA to all of her peers. She has a nice game inside the key, shoots the midrange consistent and is a tough as nail defender and is quite athletic in her approach to the game. She can finish with both hands and get to the rim with great success, we are gonna keep and eye on this athletic specimen for the next few years.
2022, 6’0, SG, Bishop O’Dowd HS, Amaya Bonner Amaya Bonner 6'0" | CG Bishop O'Dowd | 2022 State #44 Nation CA – Amaya is an athletic scoring guard with a very nice body type for college at this time and knows how to use her body to her advantage. She can get to the rim with a burst of speed past her defender or pull up and shoot the midrange or floater in the paint. She is aggressive to the rim and is a threat to score on the floor at any time. She is one of the better guards in the area when it comes to the Bay area. Her athleticism alllows for her to get by defenders as she can jump and twist her body to get closer to the rim or evade a charge call. This young player is fun to watch and we will keep and eye on her for the next few years.
