Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges.
Jenna Fiedler – Western Dubuque
Western Dubuque’s Jenna Fiedler had a hand in a little bit of everything last season.
Fiedler scored 256 points to lead all juniors, adding 65 assists with 48 rebounds, 29 steals and 12 blocks.
The guard shot almost 43 percent from the floor, sinking 45 three-pointers. She was a 40 percent shooter from deep and also knocked down over 67 percent of her free throw tries.
Elle Davis – Clinton
It was a solid season for Clinton’s Elle Davis, as the Class of 2021 prospect recorded 228 points in 22 games.
Davis also chipped in 62 rebounds, 42 assists and 22 steals for the River Queens, who featured a deep junior class.
She showed her abilities from deep by knocking down 48 triples and shooting 32 percent from long-range while also making almost 64 percent of her free throw attempts.
Talbot Kinney – Central DeWitt
It was a 100-100 season for Central DeWitt’s Talbot Kinney as a junior, as she recorded 101 points and 101 rebounds.
Talbot had 33 offensive boards to go along with 65 assists, 26 steals and 12 blocked shots.
She shot 43 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free throw line for the Sabers, adding a handful of made three-pointers.
Makenzie Cooley – Clinton
Another key contributor for Clinton from the Class of 2021 is Makenzie Cooley.
Cooley had 142 points and a team-leading 258 rebounds last year. She shot almost 42 percent from the field and 56 percent from the free throw line, adding 18 assists and 14 steals.
Claire Neighbor – Center Point-Urbana
Coming off the bench, Claire Neighbor found her role last year for Center Point-Urbana.
Neighbor scored 85 points with 68 rebounds, 21 assists and 15 steals for the Stormin’ Pointers. She shot almost 43 percent from the field and even knocked down a handful of triples.
