Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2022’s who could be primed for big seasons.
Abby Wolter Abby Wolter 5'6" | PG Keokuk | 2022 State IA – Keokuk
If people didn’t know about Abby Wolter Abby Wolter 5'6" | PG Keokuk | 2022 State IA before, they definitely do now.
The Keokuk guard broke out, producing 307 points with 73 rebounds, 61 assists and 60 steals last year. She shot over 43 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep, sinking 30 triples in all.
Danielle Breen Danielle Breen 5'6" | SG Fairfield | 2022 IA – Fairfield
When Fairfield needed a bucket last year, they could look to a Breen.
Up first was Danielle Breen Danielle Breen 5'6" | SG Fairfield | 2022 IA , as the Class of 2022 guard recorded 206 points with 92 rebounds, 37 steals and 30 assists. She made 17 three-pointers and was a 70 percent shooter at the free throw line.
The Trojans pushed Keokuk in a regional semifinal before bowing out with 14 wins.
Delaney Breen – Fairfield
If Danielle Breen Danielle Breen 5'6" | SG Fairfield | 2022 IA was covered, Fairfield would look to Delaney Breen.
Delaney Breen finished her season with 176 points to go along with 71 rebounds, 41 assists, 41 steals and 10 blocked shots.
A top three-pointer shooter for the Trojans, she made 38 triples on the year.
Alexis Standard – Burlington
By the time her sophomore season was over, Burlington’s Alexis Standard was showing big signs of progress.
Standard recorded 62 points with 41 rebounds, 22 assists and eight steals in 10 games. WIth a full season in her corner, a big year should be had by the guard.
Alivia Myhre – Keokuk
Another Class of 2022 player for Keokuk to watch is Alivia Myhre.
In 14 games last season, Myhre contributed 85 points with 54 rebounds, 18 steals, seven assists and blocked three shots. She also found her way to the free throw line often, attempting 39 shots and making 61.5 percent of them.
