Obviously, these regions will change into next season but for these stories it was the easiest way to divide players and teams as equally as possible.
We will be writing a series of three stories for each region in the state and the categories are as follows: 2023’s to put on Your Radar, 2022’s who can Breakout, and 2021’s Who Should be Valued by Colleges.
We will continue to go through each region and aim to hit as many players as we can that we haven’t talked about previously. Here are five 2021’s who should be valued by colleges.
Jackie Pippet Jackie Pippet 6'0" | C Ankeny Centennial | 2021 State IA t – Ankeny Centennial
Ankeny Centennial has a deep group of players from the Class of 2021 to work with this coming season.
Leading that bunch is Jackie Pippet Jackie Pippet 6'0" | C Ankeny Centennial | 2021 State IA t, who is coming off a year in which she scored 194 points and grabbed 105 rebounds.
Pippett, who had 55 offensive boards, also produced 30 steals, 16 assists and 13 blocked shots. She was a nearly 59 percent shooter from the field and also sank 68 percent of her free throws.
Alley May – Indianola
She may not get as many headlines as teammate – and classmate – Kendall Clatt Kendall Clatt 5'10" | SG Indianola | 2021 State IA , but Indianola still relies on Alley May for many things.
May finished her junior season with 87 points to go along with 88 rebounds, 15 steals, 11 assists and nine blocks. She had 40 offensive boards and shot almost 41 percent from the field for the Indians.
Bella Robben Bella Robben 5'9" | SF Ankeny Centennial | 2021 State IA – Ankeny Centennial
With a handful of seniors graduating, Ankeny Centennial will be able to fill some of that void by Class of 2021’s Bella Robben Bella Robben 5'9" | SF Ankeny Centennial | 2021 State IA .
Robben scored 85 points last season in 23 games, making eight starts. She shot almost 41 percent from the floor with 113 rebounds, a team-high 33 blocked shots, 23 assists and 18 steals.
Payton Kizer – Dubuque Senior
As one of a handful of players from the Class of 2021 returning for Dubuque Senior, Payton Kizer will be counted on to provide an experienced hand.
Kizer played in 21 games with six starts last season, scoring 31 points with 45 rebounds, nine assists, six steals and three blocks. With more playing time and better percentages from the floor, she should be primed for a big senior year.
Lizzie Strom – Ankeny Centennial
Another of those Class of 2021 players returning with experience for Ankeny Centennial is Lizzie Strom.
Strom saw action in 22 games a year ago, scoring 75 points with 77 rebounds, 20 assists, 15 steals and five blocked shots.
