We have written many articles here on PrepGirlsHoops South Carolina taking a glance at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 classes of girls basketball players throughout the state. It is also never too early to prognosticate the landscape of incoming freshmen looking to make their marks on the Palmetto State hoops scene over the next four years.
Here is a look at four from the Class of 2024 in Richland and Lexington counties to keep a close watch for.
Terriana Gray Terriana Gray 5'9" | SF A.C. Flora | 2024 State SC – PG – W.A. Perry – Wherever she goes in her high school career, its future over the next few seasons will be anything but gray. Gray has received credit for her ability to drain 3-point shots, a knack for being able to find her way through defenders and her ball handling ability. Regarded as a top guard already in her class and at a position that is receiving more emphasis in basketball circles as a whole, one must not be surprised if and when she gets her fair share of attention when recruiting time will await her.
Jordan Mintz Jordan Mintz 5'3" | PG Gray Collegiate | 2024 State SC – PG – Muller Middle School – With a polished game in mint condition, this talented youngster is another that basketball fans throughout the state should watch out for. Plenty of the things coaches look for out of a guard – she does. Mintz can get to the basket for a high-percentage shot or sink mid-range and long-range tries as well – including from 3-point range. Mintz is also listed on the South Carolina 76ers travel roster. Another with a bright future in an increasingly guard-driven game.
Samira Khalil Samira Khalil 5'8" | CG Hammond | 2024 State SC – SF – River Bluff High School – No bluff … Lexington County has a much-talented up-and-comer in the 2024 ranks as well. Khalil is coming off a 2019-20 season where she averaged 13.2 points per game for the Gators – a team that went winless the year before last and won a postseason game last season. A major portion for that is her ability to knock down 3-pointers. Check any game she plays and she will surely sink a few from downtown. She is also a potent passer and can create turnovers. Also another from the SC76ers team. She and Brad McKinney’s Gators are just getting started.
Jasmine Frierson Jasmine Frierson 5'6" | CG Hartsville | 2024 State SC – PG – A.C. Flora High School – Ironically, to close out this list, all the guards hail from Richland while the lone forward is from Lexington County. Nonetheless, Frierson is another that certainly excels at her game. Another who does the little things that have a big impact. Frierson is an effective passer as she tallied nearly five assists per game and can also cause turnovers as she did over three steals per contest. Coral Johnson’s Falcons saw four seniors depart from A.C. Flora because of graduation, meaning Frierson’s place as part of the successful formula with the Falcons will only be on the rise as her profile – and her game – continue to sharpen even more.
