Continue ReadingAudrey Roden Audrey Roden 5'9" | SG West Linn | 2021 State OR 2021 5’9″ SG Cal Stars/West Linn HS – Audrey Roden Audrey Roden 5'9" | SG West Linn | 2021 State OR was recognized on a nationally level by several scouts in Des Moines as she was amongst national stockrisers as one of the more dynamic and consistent players during her tenure at Nike TOC Iowa. In Session III, she averaged 9.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals for the Stars last week, providing electric shooting surges as well as defensive discipline and overall savviness in the backcourt. Even in rough patches when her shot isn’t falling, she continues to play with grit on the defensive side and contributes as a quick guard in transition who provides quick and easy scores.
Talana Lepolo Talana Lepolo 5'7" | PG Saint Joseph Notre Dame HS | 2022 State CA 2022 5’7″ PG Cal Stars/ St Joseph Notre Dame – Perhaps the MVP for the Stars this week, as she averaged 6.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 7.2 assists as the most consistent player for them all week. She executed the perfection the art of balancing distribution and attacking the basket, particularly during their game versus KC Running Angels. In this triple overtime classic, she was facilitating all game long but when her team needed a bucket the most, she warded off three defenders into the paint and single handedly won them the game.
Marley Langi Marley Langi 6'0" | SF Archbishop Mitty | 2021 State CA 20221 6’0″ PF Cal Stars/Archbishop Mitty – The super talented forward averaged 7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1 steal in Des Moines last week as a smooth but aggressive forward who gets it done on both ends. Offensively she is as versatile as anyone as she can hit down jumpers and also has incredible footwork in the post and can finish in all sorts of ways. Defensively, she is engaged as ever as she is quick enough to pick up steals but assertive enough to grab rebounds and block shots at the rim.
Makena Mastora 2021 5’9″ SG Cal Stars/St Joseph Notre Dame – Makena is so consistent that at times you forget how much value she brings to the table as a scorer and defender. She was amongst scoring leaders during the week, averaging 7 points and 2.3 rebounds as the ultimate 3 and D player for the Stars. Against Colorado Premier she scored a quick 5 points in the form of a three and a floater over Lauren Betts Lauren Betts 6'7" | C Grandview | 2022 State #1 Nation CO that was impressive. Mastora’s approach to basketball is very simple but highly effective as a perimeter shooter that makes every touch count and is highly intentional on defense.
Donovyn Hunter Donovyn Hunter 5'10" | PG South Medford | 2023 State #26 Nation OR 2023 5’10” PG South Medford HS – Was a pleasant surprise this week as she had her moments and really came into form during their last game versus All Iowa Attack. She recorded 10 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals against All Iowa Attack in an ensemble of jump shots, transition lay-ups, and when she wasn’t scoring she displayed great overall court awareness. By the end of the tournament she looked to be a significant and confident member of the team as she averaged 4,6 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1 steal.
Evelyn Vazquez 2021 5’5″ PG KC Running Angels/Piper HS – Dynamic, quick point guard that is a true two way player as she makes a lot of efforts on both ends. Against the Cal Stars, she had a staggering 21 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals. She is a ferocious on-ball defender who hounds down her opposition and when she comes up with the ball she is off to the races. She is a sensational finisher who uses a lot of finesse and creativity to get the ball in the hole. Good shooter and three level scorer.
Lauren Betts Lauren Betts 6'7" | C Grandview | 2022 State #1 Nation CO 2022 6’7″ C Colordao Premier/Grandview HS – 6’7” forward with a lot of length who is ranked by several publications as the top player in the class of 2022 and it is easy to see why. Her height allows her to be a good passer as she hovers over others and it allows her to be a good shooter as she has a great set shot that is accurate. Size and physicality alone enables her to be a great post presence as she has a great touch around the basket. Had 12 points and 7 rebounds against the Cal Stars.
Marya Hudgins Marya Hudgins 6'0" | SF Grandview | 2022 State CO 2022 6’0″ SG Colorado Premier/Grandview HS – Tall guard who is automatic from deep as she had 16 points, 4 assist, and 2 steals against the Stars. She is always ready on the wing and makes them count and is a great facilitator who is aware of where her teammates are on the floor. She was an excellent role player for Colorado Premier who did her job at an excellent pace and sticks to her strengths. She has very fluid movements and is a very offensively aware and dynamic guard with upside.
