She averaged 5.5 points and 2.6 rebounds as she also displayed increased maneuverability in her game as she has overall more finesse and mobility. Where she is also particularly effective is as an interior defender whose size and physicality makes it difficult for her opposition to score.
Jessica Peterson Jessica Peterson 6'3" | C Corona Centennial | 2021 State CA 2021 6’3” C Cal Stars/Etiwanda HS – Jessica, whose role for her high school team, Etiwanda was more of an inside/out scorer, had more of a role playing position for the Stars. She came in and provided a physical presence and stability in the forward position as a disciplined defender. She averaged 1.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks along the way as she always displayed effort points through the chance of second chance opportunities.
Hunter Hernandez 2021 5’10” SG Cal Stars/Archbishop Mitty – Hernandez, before her significant ACL injury was a dynamic wing that would score at three levels for Archbishop Mitty. Although she still shows flashes for that, she is still newly developed after rehabbing from the injury and was given increasing minutes for a loaded Stars team. She worked her way into the rotation as a tasked defender who finds ways to score through effort. Hunter averaged 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds and had several spirited performances that inspired.
Charity Gallegos 2021 5’4” PG Cal Stars/Folsom HS – Charity provided skills that were unique for the Stars in a role player that came off the bench and didn’t allow the pace to slow down – rather she sped it up. The guard plays with a lot of exuberance and energy by grabbing rebounds and starting transition in a flurry as well as playing great on-ball defender with good foot speed. She finds scorers in their areas and she can step up herself as well. Averaged 2.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
Calli Stokes Calli Stokes 6'0" | SF Redondo Union HS | 2021 State CA 2021 5’11″ SG Cal Stars/Redondo Union HS – The Gonzaga guard doesn’t command a lot of attention with her flashiness but rather with the rate that she gets the job done. She’s a great rebounder with good length and size and offensively she is a piece that fits any puzzles. Stokes can store inside or on the wing and especially thrives in the isolation situation where her team needs a bailout bucket. Averaged 6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.5 steals in Des Moines.
Addison Wedin Addison Wedin 5'11" | PG La Salle | 2021 State OR 2021 5’11” SG Cal Stars/ La Salle HS – Addison provided some big moments for the Stars in late game situations, especially against Colorado Premier when she scored 7 points within the last few minutes to get them within striking distance. Wedin makes her mark as a perimeter shooter but as of recently has been learning to score against defenders in the paint in an array of post moves and short jumpers. She averaged 4.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in Des Moines.
Peyton Kelderman 2021 5’7” SF All Iowa Attack/Waukee HS – Was a bright spot for All Iowa Attack 11th Carpenter as a guard with some serious range as she sank some threes well beyond the three point mark. She totaled 14 points on some very efficient shooting for All Iowa Attack as a guard that prowls the perimeter and awaits her turn to take it – and with quick and consistent mechanics. Keeps things simple when she puts it on the floor as a steadfast penetrator that can score in the lane.
Chloe Dallas 2021 6’2” PF WI Flight/Wauwatosa HS – Tall, physical forward that is not afraid to mix it up defensively, as she maneuvers incredibly well with her body in the paint with a combination of finesse and strength. Against Cal Stars, she was anchoring the paint as a consistent defender willing to take on any assignment in the middle, whether that was in the strongside or helpside. Finished with 7 points and 9 rebounds as a blue collar offensive player that is aided by her overall physical presence.
Emily La Chapell 2022 5’11” PG WI Flight/Appleton East HS – Hard working, disciplined, and skilled scorer who can truly do it at all three levels. Her bread and butter is her perimeter shot, however she can mix it up and pull up from mid-range. Showcases the ability to get to the basket as well. Finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds in a balanced game against Cal Stars. Weighing several significant Division 1 offers.
