* If you’re not listed and had a big weekend, it’s just because I missed it. My fault, not yours. Stay in my ear and make sure I see you next time around.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
(2024, PG, Detroit Edison, Michigan Crossover)
Let’s start by saying this: Bonner will be 1 of the top prospects nationally in the class of 2024. She has “IT”, being the swag and the star power matched by the work ethic of a champion. You’ve got to see her play.
Devin Hagemann Devin Hagemann 5'6" | PG Detroit Edison | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, Detroit Edison, Michigan Crossover)
Hagemann was outstanding at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Iowa. I found myself catching glimpses of her sister, Damiya Hagemann Damiya Hagemann 5'8" | PG Detroit Edison | 2021 State #35 Nation MI , as I watched. Devin was able to make plays with the ball in her hand and showed a very high basketball IQ, especially for her age.
Anna Richards Anna Richards 5'9" | PG Lansing Catholic | 2024 State MI (2024, G, Michigan Premier )
Michigan Premier isn’t going anywhere as a grassroots club, and players like Richards are guaranteeing it. She had a do-it-all type performance and was clearly an energy player that teammates followed.
Taryn Jackson Taryn Jackson 5'7" | CG Lowell | 2024 State MI (2024, G, Lowell, MBA)
Jackson was incredibly impressive this weekend. She ran the floor well and could finish or dish in transition. Jackson showed the ability to break down a defender off the dribble at the USJN Windy In Indy.
PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND
Lilly Zeinstra (2024, PG, Byron Center, West Michigan Drive)
Zeinstra kept doing what she’s done every weekend this summer for the West Michigan Drive: Shoot, and shoot from anywhere. She once again showed the range on her shot, this time at the USJN Windy In Indy. Zeinstra has put the state of Michigan on notice.
