Team LaVine, NW Greyhounds, Oregon Elite, Sagebrush and Spokane Stars each had multiple teams playing and it was great to be able to watch some Northwest hoops again. Below are notes on several players I evaluated in the one day I was present. *Rosters were not available for all teams, although I was still able to grab many player’s names and info
2021 5’10 SF MJ Bruno MJ Bruno 5'10" | SF Central Valley | 2021 State WA (Spokane Stars Blue) – One of the hardest, if not the single hardest working player in the entire event. Bruno’s outside shot did not fall as she didn’t stick her follow through, but she found success finishing in transition and grabbing multiple offensive rebounds. Bruno also showed the ability to effectively defend players with multiple inches of height on her. *Committed to Portland
2021 5’9 SG Cambrie Rickard Cambrie Rickard 5'9" | SG St. George's | 2021 State WA (Spokane Stars Blue) – Can do a little bit of everything from the guard slot. Shoots it, Handles pretty well versus pressure and plays a solid game all around.
2023 5’7 PG Hope Hassmann Hope Hassmann 5'7" | CG Tahoma | 2023 State WA (Oregon Elite Navy) – Good midrange shot, skillful off the bounce and she finishes on the break well. Hassmann was one of the better guards in the event due to her hustle and skill from the point guard position. Will be a good fit in the right conference for Division 1 level.
2021 6’2 C Emilia Bishop Emilia Bishop 6'1" | PF Wilsonville | 2021 State OR (Oregon Elite Navy) – Strong frame that allows her to finish through contact and she does so with either hand pretty well. Hustles after loose balls and slashes from high to low post to catch and score. *Committed to Northern Colorado
2021 6’3 C Natalie Lathrop Natalie Lathrop 6'3" | C Tualatin | 2021 State OR (Oregon Elite Navy) – Very long post prospect that has her best basketball ahead of her. Lathop needs to develop her balance and core strength, but her frame and length allows her to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Potential!
2022 6’1 SF Dani Starr Dani Starr 6'1" | SG Sheldon | 2022 State OR (Oregon Elite Navy) – Wing-forward that excels as a slasher. Strong body, but also has the length to match. Starr has good touch around the basket and knocks down her free throws. Division 1 level prospect.
2021 6’2 C Schuyler Berry Schuyler Berry 6'2" | C Grant | 2021 State OR (Oregon Elite Navy) – Solid size in the post and plays a physical brand of basketball. Cleans up the boards in the paint. I could see her going to one of a number of levels for college, depending what she is trying to do.
2021 5’11 SF Jaydia Martin Jaydia Martin 6'0" | SF Hudson's Bay | 2021 State WA (Team LaVine) – Very strong and physical wing-forward prospect. Most comfortable playing inside of 15 feet. Martin hustles on the defensive end and got a good amount of deflections. An aggressive basket cutter. Division 1 level talent.
2021 6’0 PF Madison Rubino Madison Rubino 6'0" | PF Glacier Peak | 2021 State WA (Team LaVine) – Aggressive, physical and confident forward on both sides of the ball. The best thing to see from Rubino was her shooting and knocking down the three point shot. That aspect of her game is huge for her at the next level. She played well in the game I watched. *Committed to Idaho
2021 5’5 PG Aaliyah Collins Aaliyah Collins 5'5" | PG Glacier Peak | 2021 State WA (Team LaVine) – Easily one of the top guards in the event. Collins has blazing speed and excels at turning defense to offense. She is more of a down hill attacker at 5’5, but she could help a school in the WAC or Big Sky. One of the top rising seniors in Washington that is still available.
