A little info before we get started on the rankings. These rankings are not an indication on how good a player is at the high school level, but a projection on how a prospect projects at the next level. Also, the top 50 prospects on the rankings list are more closely examined than the prospects after 50 or so. The prospects after 50 could be their own tier technically. With that being said, let’s get to know some new prospects and those that stocks have risen!
Notable New Prospects
#29 Josie Hill | Rapid City Central | 6’2 | F-C | An extremely long shot blocking and shot-altering machine. That’s her niche. Raw offensive prospect…
#30 Nora O’Malley I Irene-Wakonda I 5’8 I Guard I Class B Third Team All-State averaging 18 points per game along with 8 rebounds per game.
#41 Abby Siemonsma I Hill City I 5’7 I SG I Everything you want in a player at the guard position. Always in the right position and plays lock-down defense. A capable offensive player as well.

Stock Up
#6 Emilee Boyer | Harrisburg | 6’0 | C | A well-rounded and complete post player. Size, skilled, high IQ, inside scoring ability…
#8 Madelyn Bragg I Aberdeen Roncalli I 6’1 I C I Madelyn was the feature in our South Dakota Breakout Candidates article. Her breakout is projected into her ranking and she could be in for a huge season.
#12 Ainsley Shelsta | Brookings | 6’5 | C | A high academic prospect with great size that Harvard has shown interest in.
#13 Mackenzie Hemmer | Colman-Egan | 5’10 | SF-PF | A major mover in the rankings, Mackenzie is an all-around impressive prospect that may be overlooked as one of the best 2022’s in the state. A non-flashy, hard working player. Mackenzie has a great ability to finish inside consistently. Works extremely hard and wrestles away defensive rebounds from her opponents to secure the ball for her team. She’s a little bit of a tweener but could battle hard inside and play on a wing at the next level as well. She has an accurate jump-shot and can push the ball up the floor herself when need be. It will be interesting to see which college level she ends up at, but many programs should give her a hard look. Mackenzie could really surprise and excel at the next level.
# 15 Rachel Gerlach | Corsica-Stickney | 5’10 | SF-PF | Rachel was the feature prospect of our prospects edition. She is a well-rounded player that could blossom into a highly recruited prospect.
#23 Stella Marcus | Spearfish | 5’6 | CG | Stella is a prospect that could really make a name for herself this upcoming season with her offensive ability. She can create her own scoring opportunities and can put the ball in the hoop in a multitude of ways.
#31 Ashtyn Wobig | McCook Central/Montrose | 5’10 | CG | Ashtyn was also listed in our South Dakota Breakout Candidates article. She could really become a more noticed and well known prospect this season. She could progress nicely all season long.
