SW Ohio Class of 2023- Part 1
A new week brings a look at a new class of talented athletes, as the Class of 2023 incoming sophomores will be featured all week as part of the Around Ohio series on PGH Ohio.
Makenzie Chinn, 5-2 Tecumseh
A hard working rising guard with a solid perimeter game who put together a solid freshman season for the Arrows. Good handles and not only a solid defender, but she sees the court well and is a solid passing guard. Does need to become more consistent from beyond the arc, but has a lot of potential to improve her game before her sophomore season arrives.
Paige Frazier, 5-5 Monroe
This kid just keeps getting better. She finished her freshman season on a high note as she finished strong, and she is a gym rat looking to take her game to another level. Very intelligent on the court, her basketball IQ is beyond her years. Does a nice job penetrating with a strong finish at the rim, and can play through contact. Has very good handles, and can light you up from the perimeter with deep range. Can run the floor in transition well and makes the right choice. Has improved her midrange in the off-season.
Jackie Fye, 5-3 Brookville
Jackie is hoping to help lead Brookville back to a winning season after the Blue Devils have struggled the past few years. I like Jackie’s intensity and high motor on the court. Has good handles, can distribute well and find the open player for the better shot. Can run the show and has good quickness and athleticism which helps her team in the transition game. Helps to have a 6-2 post in Malarie Ross to make a good inside-outside combo.
Kennedy Gadson, 5-8 Dayton Chaminade Julienne
A rising standout with a bright future at CJ. As a freshman, just touched the surface of how good she could be, and I look for her contributions to improve this season. She has smooth handles and can drain from anywhere around the perimeter. Her scoring should increase this year as she takes a bigger role with the Eagles. Coaches need to keep an eye on her.
Lilian Gray, 6-0 Centerville
She is an impressive sophomore who can play well around the basket, has good strength and solid hands. Moves well in the paint with good footwork. She plays on a loaded Centerville team, so for her it is about improving her game and making her impact when able. She should continue to grow her game.
